February 2001 was the fourth sunny February in a row and recorded twice the expected average. This has been another sunny winter, though it has been colder and snowier than the winter of 1999/2000. This was the wettest February since 1997. Even so there was a very strong anti-cyclone that held firm during the month, ensuring that no rain was recorded between February 13th and February 22nd.
