As more and more people opt for a college education the hassle for an instructor to keep up with courses and schedules on paper can be devastating. Along with the hassle of learning a new system, life can often times be very frustrating. So I considered developing a product that can help college instructors schedule classes more effectively and efficiently, at the university therefore improving downtime and results. What I’m developing is called the “Athens State Course Scheduling System”. This scheduling system is needed more than ever today; because of the university ever increasing computer science enrollment .The faculty has been forced to go with an automated system. This system will help automate the Computer Science division of the university and help cut down on cost. Instructors have responded for a need of this type of support system for ages, but didn’t get a response from upper level management. The need for this type of support system is not new. Human support has always been in need to be more innovative and provide better solutions. Even with the highly politicized environment of many universities, the scheduling system makes it possible to provide perfect support at all levels. Because this system is developed using Visual Basic you can be assured that the scheduling system is compatible with all versions of windows including some Unix. About The System This system is going to be written by student Corwin Jones. The application is going to be simple and contain a friendly user interface that will be quick and easy to learn and navigate. A novice will learn the system in less than 30 minutes tops. The screen concept will be quite simple, just click on any of the command buttons and you can instantly view any information from your class schedules to the course times. This system will include the option to let you update, delete, view, records in your database, plus it will give you the option to search and sort for fields. A key plus for this system will be that by clicking the browse button you can instantly view any database that is in Access format on your hard drive. The data fields and records are instantly loaded with this program. This program is a must if you are instructing or scheduling classes.
