VACATION TIME

I went to the mountains,
Followed leg-aching pathways,
Enjoyed sparkling waterfalls
And beautiful sunset displays.

I parked at chilly campsites,
Fought nausea ‘round horseshoe bends,
Struggled with dew-soaked gear,
Longed for warmth of beach with friends.

I admired the scenic highways,
Stopped at all historic sites,
Absorbed nature’s country lore,
Felt a few mosquito bites.

But the best part of our travels
Was the sight of home sweet home.
I collapsed in my recliner
Vowing never again to roam.
