MY TAKE ON THE CELICA:
The 2000 Toyota Celica GTS has been nothing but fun to drive. It handles like a dream and only weighing in at 2500lbs helps in that department. The GTS's Engine is a 1.8 liter VVTL-i (Variable Valve Timing with Lift and intelligence) puts out 180HP stock and it doesn't hit that until 7,800 RPM's which gives you an excuse to redline the thing (Redline is 8,000RPM's). This car rockets down the road and is so smooth that it is very easy to speed. It has a 6-Speed Manual Tranny and that will allow you to do the entire 160MPH that the Speedometer reads. I have personally had the vehicle up to 110MPH in 4th gear and do not recommend anyone do that unless you are on a race track using the proper techniques and saftey gear. The car would probably be a blast in the North GA mountains but I have yet to put it to the test. The vehicle gets 25+ miles to the gallon and runs on Premium Gasoline (91+ Octane).
I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who is looking to purchase a sports car but wants something with practicle gas mileage and Toyota dependability. This car has an available 4 speed sportronic shifter that is an automatic that can be operated like a manual. I recommend the six speed for anyone that likes total control over your driving experience.
