AIDS and HIV
AIDS is the abbreviated name given to a disease caused by a virus which attacks the body's defenses.A-I-D-S stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. The virus that causes this illnes is HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) HIV infects and important cell in the immunes system called the T-Helper lymphocyte. When a person is infected, the virus will damage the body's immune system, leaving it defenceless to other infections. These other infections are the ones that cause illness and death. There is no cure for this disease, however you can protect yourself by not sharing bodily fluids
