PITTSBURGH - The Steelers waited until the fifth round to draft a quarterback and they were happy to have Boston College's Brian St. Pierre available when their time came to pick. After spending last weekend at the team's rookie mini-camp, head coach Bill Cowher talked about the team's newest quarterback, who won't be rushed into any action but instead given time to learn "For Brian, it's going to be an ability to comprehend our terminology and to be able to feel comfortable saying it and going through the progressions," said Cowher. The Steelers are hoping that old adage that it's quality and not quantity that counts holds true for them this year. The team had only five selections after trading their third and sixth round picks to move up in the first round to select safety Troy Polamalu.

"The first thing you notice about this year's draft class, kind of what coach and I have been talking about, there's five picks here," said director of football operations Kevin Colbert. "Probably the least amount, I don't know, I guess in recent history it's the least amount that we've had. And the thing that we'd like to stress is we think we got five quality guys.".More
