Social Services/ Projecto Compañera

The strengthening and unifying force behind all of MUA's educational work is “Projecto Compañera.” In addition to taking classes, students are required to attend support and focus groups Wednesdays and Fridays each week. Through “Projecto Compañera," women participate in support groups, career and educational counseling, and receive translation services in emergencies. MUA runs weekly health workshops and certificate programs on topics such as AIDS, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence prevention, obtaining restraining orders, self esteem, prenatal care, childcare, nutrition, smoking, and much more. We also offer workshops on resume writing and job interviewing. Workshops, focus groups, and support groups are free and open to the community. For the latest schedule, you may inquire to Zoila Diaz, MUA’s counselor, at 617-296-3016, Ext. 17.
