The Orphanage

Orphanage

What is it?

The orphanage is a school for orphans as well as some non-orphans. It is intended for children ages 3 to 7. The NHS is trying to teach these children English as well as to have fun with them. We sing English children’s songs with them such as “Itsy Bitsy Spider“ and “You are my sunshine” The NHS has purchased musical instruments that can be used during the activities.

What can you do?

You can go to the orphanage with NHS members and participate. This activity is only for girls, because the school is led by a group of women. You will lead a class with the others and will entertain the children while teaching them English. Besides singing there are also some movements with the songs to keep the children focussed. You will receive community hours by going to the orphanage.

When can you do it?

Every Saturday a group of NHS members go to the orphanage from 10 to 11.30. If you are interested in going ask one of the NHS members, Mr Scullion or Mrs. Mesmar. We will then make arrangements for you to go.
