KELLY, ALFRED COLUMBUS “LUM”: Age:? Enlisted as Private in Co F 5 May 1863 in Cape Girardeau County. Detailed to the Commissary Department 15 Aug 1863.   Paroled as Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

KENNEDY, GEORGE W.: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co B 12 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $8. Deserted 15 Jun 1863. Either captured or returned to command and tried before a court-martial.  He was found guilty of desertion and sentenced to have one half of his head shaved and to be confined to hard labor with ball and chain for 60 days.  In consideration of his former good character the sentence was remitted and he was returned to duty.  (No Further Record).

KENNISON, LILBURNE G.: Age: 26. Enlisted as Private in Co B 15 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Appointed 3rd Corporal 6 Dec 1863.  Promoted to 1st Corporal at date not of record.  Died of disease in Drew Co, AR      Jul 1864 and is buried there, presumably in an unmarked grave, according to the W. R. McGuire memoir.

KENNISON, REUBEN: Age: 19. Enlisted as Private in Co B 15 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Transferred to Co D 10 Dec 1862.  Deserted 18 Dec 1862.

KILLIAN, GEORGE W.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 20.  Enlisted as Private in Co A 17 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County.  Deserted 20 Sep 1862.

KILLIAN, MOSES: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co B 12 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Deserted 20 Oct 1862.  Returned to command at date not of record.  Deserted 10 Jul 1863. According to other records, he was captured in Bollinger County, MO, on 1 Dec 1862.  Incarcerated initially at St. Louis, he was sent to City Point, VA for exchange 4 Mar 1863.  See Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, n.p.  Died 25 Nov 1928 and is buried in Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, Wright County, MO.

KINDER, DANIEL F.: Age:?  Enlisted as Private in Co F 15 May 1863 in Cape Girardeau County.  Taken prisoner in Cape Girardeau Co, MO, 20 Nov 1864 after having deserted following Price's Missouri Expedition.  His pension application is on file at the MO State Archives, Jefferson City, MO, which indicates that he was wounded in the leg during his service with the regiment.

KINDER, MARTIN V.: Age: 19. Enlisted as Private in Co A 2 Nov 1862 in Bollinger County.  Discharged for reason not of record 1 Apr 1863.

KING, JAMES G.: Age: 41. Enlisted as Private in Co C 26 Aug 1862 in Wayne County.  "Left sick on the White River, August 10, 1863."  (No Further Record).

KING, WASHINGTON: Age: 19. Enlisted as Private in Co B 12 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $10. Transferred to Co K 6 Dec 1862.  Present Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

KINNION, JAMES P.: Age:? Enlisted as Private in Co B 1 Jun 1863 at location not of record.  Present Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).  A surgeon’s record indicates that this soldier was treated for a wound in February, 1864.

KIRK, WILLIAM L.: Age: 28. (Served in Missouri State Guard as Sergeant, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Enlisted as Private in Co H 1 Oct 1862 in Scott County.  Deserted 15 Dec 1862.

KITCHEN, JESSE: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 22. Enlisted as Private in Co A 31 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County. Captured in Bollinger Co, MO 8 Nov 1862.  Forwarded to Allen's Point, VA for exchange 2 Apr 1863.  Subsequently served as Private in 4th MO Field Artillery (Harris' Battery) and paroled with that unit at Grand Ecore, LA 6 Jun 1865.  Residence: Stoddard County.

KNOWLES, MICAJAH H.: Age:?  Enlisted as Private in Co K 31 May 1863 at location not of record.  He was a patient at a hospital at Searcy, AR 25 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

LACY, JOHN H.: Age: 17. Enlisted as Private in Co I 17 Aug 1862 in New Madrid County.  Horse appraised at $80 and horse equipment at $5. Died of cause not of record at Pocahontas, AR 19 Dec 1862.

LAIL, ZENAS P.: Age: 37. Enlisted as Private in Co F 27 Sep 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $50 and horse equipment at $10. Appointed 3rd Sergeant 4 Oct 1862.  Transferred to dismounted cavalry 26 Jul 1863.  Returned to command 23 Aug 1863. Transferred to 4th MO Field Artillery (Harris' Battery) at date not of record.  Captured at Mine Creek, KS 25 Oct 1864.  Died of small pox at Rock Island, IL military prison 12 Feb 1865.

LAIRD, GEORGE: Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co H 25 Nov 1862 in Scott County.  Deserted 15 Dec 1862.

LAIRD, WILLIAM C.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 19. Enlisted as Private in Co H 20 Oct 1862 in Scott County. Taken prisoner in Scott County in May 1863 while on furlough.  (No Further Record).

LAMAR, REUBEN M.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co K 27 Apr 1863 in Cape Girardeau County.  Transferred to dismounted cavalry 26 Jul 1863.  Deserted on the march from Jacksonport, AR 30 Jul 1863.  His pension application is on file at the MO State Archives, Jefferson City, MO. It indicates that he “went home” with two other men of the regiment, and that when he attempted to return to the army he was taken prisoner at Bloomfield, MO, and took the oath of allegiance. Died 17 May 1926 and is buried in the Christian Church Cemetery, Fredericktown, MO.

LAMBERT, JAMES S.: Age: 23. Enlisted as Private in Co B 17 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Transferred to Co F 4 Oct 1862. Detailed to the Commissary Department 15 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

LAMBERT, JOSEPHUS S.: Age: 23. Enlisted as Private in Co G 16 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $150 and horse equipment at $8.  Appointed 2nd Corporal 8 Oct 1862.  Promoted to 1st Corporal at date not of record.  Present Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).

LAPE, DANIEL: Age: 18. Enlisted as Private in Co B 15 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $115 and horse equipment at $8. Deserted 28 Apr 1863.  Returned to command.  Paroled as Private, Co A, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865. Residence: Cape Girardeau County. He was a charter member of the Captain S. S. Harris Camp, United Confederate Veterans, at Jackson, MO in 1896.  His pension application is on file at the MO State Archives, Jefferson City, MO, which indicates that he was wounded in the leg during his service with the regiment.  He died 16 Sep 1921 and is buried at Howard Cemetery, Cape Girardeau Co, MO.

LAPE, ISRAEL: Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co B 15 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Deserted on scout 26 Dec 1862.

LAPE, JOHN: Age: 23. Enlisted as Private in Co B 15 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $12.  Present Dec 1863.  (No Further Record).

LASTER, JAMES: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co E 16 Aug 1862 in Mississippi County.  Present Dec 1863.  (No Further Record). According to the Dalton Record Book, he was detailed to the commissary department at a date not of record.

LAUNIUS, GEORGE W.: Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co I 17 Aug 1862 in New Madrid County.  Paroled as Private, Co C, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865.  Died 6 Jan 1870 and buried in the City Cemetery, Bloomfield, MO.  Residence: Stoddard County. Brother of Elisha H. Launius.

LAUNIUS, ELISHA H.: Age: 21. Enlisted as Private in Co I 17 Aug 1862 in New Madrid County.  Taken prisoner of war in Cross Co, AR 28 Jul 1863.  Paroled at City Point, VA 27 Feb 1865.  His biography is in Goodspeed’s History of Southeast Missouri, p. 1040. Residence: Stoddard County. He died 9 Jun 1924 and is buried in Walker Cemetery, Stoddard County, MO.  Brother of George W. Launius.

LAWRENCE, RUSH B.: Age:? Enlisted as Private in Co H 1 Jan 1863 at Pocahontas, AR.  He was discharged and final statement given at Batesville, AR __ Feb 1863.

LESIEUR, RAPHAEL: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 26. Enlisted as Private in Co I 14 Aug 1862 in New Madrid County.  Horse appraised at $115 and horse equipment at $5. Appointed 1st Corporal 2 Dec 1862.  Paroled as Private, Co C, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865. Residence: New Madrid County.

LEWIS, JOSEPH GUILD: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 26. Enlisted as Private in Co B 15 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $140 and horse equipment at $5. Elected 2nd Lieutenant 13 Sep 1862.  Wounded in the hand according to an unidentified newspaper article in the compiler's possession. Paroled as 2nd Lieutenant, commanding Co A, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865. Residence: Cape Girardeau County. A biography is in Goodspeed’s History of Southeast Missouri, pp. 1040-1041. Died 23 Dec 1921 and is buried at Oak Ridge (Zaddock) Cemetery, Stoddard Co, MO.

LEWIS, WILLIAM L.: Age: 25. Enlisted as Private in Co E 3 Oct 1862 in Mississippi County.  Deserted 30 Nov 1862.

LILES, ROBERT P.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as 3rd Lieutenant, 1st Infantry Battalion, 1st Division) Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co K 6 Dec 1862 in Randolph County, AR.  Transferred to Co F 1 Mar 1863.  Paroled with furloughed and detailed men at Shreveport, LA 8 Jun 1865, at which time he was detailed to Hulett’s MO Cavalry Battalion. Residence: Cape Girardeau County.  According to the Missouri Cash-Book, Jackson, MO, 16 Mar 1922, he was severely wounded during Price's Missouri Expedition of 1864 and still recovering at time of parole. His biographies are in Conrad, Encyclopedia of Missouri History, Vol. IV, pp. 65-66, and Goodspeed’s History of Southeast Missouri, pp. 1081-1082.

LIMBAUGH, ALBERT: No service record.  According to Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, n. p., he was a Private who was captured in Cape Girardeau County, MO, 4 Dec 1862.  He gave his oath and posted bond to be released from prison in St. Louis, MO.

LIMBAUGH, DANIEL: Age: 19. Enlisted as Private in Co B 19 Oct 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $100 and horse equipment at $10.  Present Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

LIMBAUGH, JACOB: Age:? Enlisted as Private in Co B 1 Jun 1863 at location not of record.  Deserted 20 Jul 1863.

LONG, FRANCIS M.: Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co A 11 Oct 1862 in Bollinger County.  Horse appraised at $60 and horse equipment at $8. Transferred to Co K 6 Dec 1862.  Died of cause not of record at Camp Salado, AR 27 Jan 1863.

LONG, JACOB KNOX POLK: Age: 22. Enlisted as Private in Co A 11 Oct 1862 in Bollinger County. Horse appraised at $110 and horse equipment at $5. Transferred to Co K 6 Dec 1862.  He was left in a hospital at Searcy, AR 24 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).

LONG, JAMES KNOX POLK: Age:? Enlisted as Private in Co K 25 Apr 1863 in Cape Girardeau County.  Paroled as Private, Co B, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865. Residence: Bollinger County.

LONG, JOHN J.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 24. Enlisted as Private in Co A 24 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County.  Horse appraised at $80 and horse equipment at $10. Transferred to Co K 6 Dec 1862. Transferred to dismounted cavalry 25 Jul 1863.  Paroled at Pine Bluff, AR 12 Jun 1865.  Served as commander of the Col. William Jeffers Camp, United Confederate Veterans, at Marble Hill, MO in 1896. His pension application is on file at the MO State Archives, Jefferson City, MO. He died at date unknown and is buried in the Pulliam/Long Cemetery, Bollinger County, MO.

Transferred to dismounted cavalry 25 Jul 1863.  Later transferred to 4th MO Field Artillery (Harris' Battery), for paroled with that unit at Grand Ecore, LA 6 Jun 1865. Residence: Bollinger County.  Died 8 Aug 1900, and is buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, near Marquand, MO.

Paroled as Private, Co F, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.  Died 11 Aug 1913 and is buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cape Girardeau County, MO.

LYNCH, THOMAS WALTON: Age:? Enlisted as Private in Co I 1 Jan 1863 at location not of record.  Promoted to Junior 2nd Lieutenant 11 Jun 1863.  Granted leave of absence for sixty days effective 5 Oct 1863.  Wounded in action at date and place not of record, for he tendered his resignation 12 Mar 1864, due to disability of left arm resulting from gunshot wound.  Given choice to be assigned to office duty instead of resigning.  Wounded again at Elkin's Ferry, AR on 9 Apr 1864.  He resubmitted resignation on 19 Aug 1864 as being physically unable to walk or ride.  (No Further Record).
