The Bachelor of Community Welfare (International Social Development) course prepares graduates for a variety of community work and community development related careers both in Australia and overseas. Students complete a common full-time year of study in the Bachelor of Community Welfare and then transfer into 0C61 Bachelor of Community Welfare (International Social Development). All units completed in first year are counted towards the specialist course.
This course includes specialised components of study within community work, community development and international social development such as policies and services to indigenous people, refugees, children and families, issues concerning disadvantaged and oppressed groups, social justice and human rights as well as developing specialist skills in community development strategies, advocacy, social action, cross cultural work, dispute resolution, developing social and life skills programs, counselling and group work.
