Kasteln

Possibly around 1200 inn mountain originated in the middle Schenkenbergertal, only few kilometers of the castle remotely, the castle Kasteln. 1238 the inns were called for the first time in a document by Kasteln as a castle inhabitant, vassal of the Kyburger. 1262 there originated on the cliff projection immediately lying behind it the castle Ruchenstein in which from the March in the upper Zurich lake lived coming knight on Ruchenstein. After the extinction of the Kyburger in 1264 the land Highness about the area went over to the Habsburgs. 1301 the knights of Ruchenstein became extinct, ten years later the inns of Kasteln. Both castles were acquired by Messrs. von Mülinen from Brugg. From here they ruled over a small area in the southern edge of the law.
