Schloss Trostburg

The castle of Messrs. von Trostburg mentioned in 1241 for the first time originated during the 12-th century. After a little while a branch of the family split off and let briefly half a kilometer to the north establish the castle Liebegg. The Trostburger were a ministerial gender of the Counts of Kyburg and positioned itself from 1264 in the service of the Habsburgs.

In 1486 Hans von Hallwyl bought the consolation castle. Messrs. von Hallwyl sold them then to 1616 to the town Brugg. Nevertheless, Bern did not tolerate the power increase of his subject's town, pulled the ruling rights for itself and sold the consolation castle to private individuals. The castle was extended by 1750 to a residential castle which is still today in the private property.
