Burg Tegerfelden

About the origin of the castle Tegerfelden is known a little. It was established by the end of 11-th century and was in the possession of the barons of Tegerfelden, a nobility gender which has not become extinct with the death of Walter III of Tegerfelden (1254 was last time he was mentioned in a document). Walter III's daughter kept the family named alive when her husband took up the name Tegerfelden and took the title. This way the family name and title continued on in history.

In the first construction phase was only the mansion from stone, the other buildings of wood. The castle was presumably protected with a Palisade and two ditches on the mountain side of the castle. At the end of 12-th century the castle was destroyed by a fire, but was rebuilt.
