Galaxies

What Are Galaxies? Galaxies are flat disks that include stars, gas, and dust, which are held together because of a strong gravitational pull. There are billions of galaxies in the universe. Nobody can say how galaxies came to exist, but there are many theories that answer that question. There are three main types of galaxies: sprial, berred, and elliptical. The one galaxy that most people are aware of is the one we are in: The Milky Way. If you look up in the sky on a dark night, you may see a band of light stretching across the sky. This is the Milky Way. The light is caused by the faint glow of about 20 billion stars that are in our galaxy. The nearest galaxy to the Milky Way galaxy is the Andromeda galaxy.

We have chosen to include galaxies on the 7 Wonders of the Universe Tour because most people will never see a galaxy outside of our own. The image taken by the Hubble Telescope called the Hubble Deep Field shows that there are many more galaxies in the universe, and we want to make them accessable to the average person. We plan on featuring the Milky Way, the M87, the M82, and the M100 galaxy as part of our tour. Our customers will learn that galaxies are among the most beautiful things in the universe, and are some of the things that make our universe what it is.
