Aug 27, 2003 was a sad day for Alabama as well as our country! The very foundation of what our country was founded on, "One nation under God", was, today, taken away from all of us. A 2 1/2-ton granite monument of the Ten Commandments was wheeled from the rotunda of the Alabama Supreme Court building. Suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who installed the engraved set of tablets two years ago, risked his career to keep it in the rotunda, after a federal judge ordered it removed. Moore replied, "It is a sad day in our country when the moral foundation of our laws and the acknowledgment of God has to be hidden from public view to appease a federal judge." He said he would take his fight to the U.S. Supreme Court.
You know something is wrong in this country when an ex-president can have sex with a intern, lie about it to the people and goverment, and keep his job, while someone with a strong faith in God may loose his job over the Ten Commandments! As for the Attorney General, Bill Pryor, he has his hands tied. The U.S. Senate is considering whether to approve President Bush's nomination of Pryor for a seat on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. As for Alabama's Governor, Bob Riley, he claims to acknowledge God as the basis for the American judicial system, howerver he would have removed the monument if ordered to do so by a court with proper authority. Governor Riley obviously doesn't answer to the same "higher authority" that Chief Justice Roy Moore does. All I have to say is please pray for the state of Alabama as well as the United States of America!
