We are currently studying a "Civics in Action: Citizenship Handbook." We are learning about the goals that helped shape the Constitution, the functions of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and what the responsibilites of American citizens are. Students have a typed out copy of the notes - we are reading and discussing important information in class. The test will cover Sections 1-3, pages 214-228. The test has been scheduled for Thursday, February 15th. There will also be an "open-book" unit test covering Chapters 5-7 on Friday, February 16th. Several of you have asked me how students should study for the social studies test - students should listen and take down all notes during class, study worksheets/handouts completed during class, read back over guided reading activities, and study vocabulary words. The test information comes from all of the things mentioned above! I hope this helps! Vocabulary Words from this handbook are listed below - Not all of these words will be on the test! We will discuss the definitions that will be during class. There is also a glossary in the back of the social studies book. Note: Students have been asked to learn the Preamble again - they will quote it aloud in class on Thursday, February 8th for a grade.
