Instead of just reading from the book for this health lesson, students were actively involved in a question and answer discussion. Most students wanted to share numerous stories and had lots of questions. To have students understand, rather than just memorize, the roles of the different types of teeth I gave each student an Oreo. As a class we took a bite, but did not chew. The students had to think about which of the four teeth they used. Next, we chewed the cookie and again students were asked to think about the jobs of each type of tooth. Students retained this information rather well. Over the next few days, I would ask them about the different types of teeth during transitions times. If a student had trouble, I would have the student refer back to the Oreo and they usually remembered!

I picked this observation report to show that I understand the classroom procedures already in place by Mrs. Kephart. This report also shows that I effectively deal with children who are off task in a professional manner.

I chose this section of my evaluation to justify my ability use trasition time productively and effeciently. Transition time can either be a waste of time or it can be a period of learning. I choose to have my students learn during transitions. Therefore, while the students wait for each other during bathroom breaks I ask math facts and review questions from other subjects.
