UCW Report 12/7/02

Reported By Chris Russell on 12/8/02.

Adam Roberts comes to the ring. Roberts says he's got a problem with the boys showing up last week, refering to Zero-X, Michaels. Roberts says there's one thing they have and he wants and thats the UCW title. Roberts then calls out Zero-X, but X doesn't come out. Instead M.S. Smoothe comes out with Benin and says X had to stop off by a pawn shop before coming to the show. Roberts says he's going to ref tonight, and pulls off his shirt to reveal a ref's shirt.
Notes: The crowd was ready for the graveyard cause they was so dead. Some shows the crowd is hott before the show even starts and sometimes they have to work to get the crowd alive. This was one of those shows where they really had to work hard to get the crowd into it. It was cold inside the building might have something to do with it.

1.Inhuman Fly defeated Bubba Cagle
Fly with a backslide for a two count on Cagle. Fly with a wristlock into a hammerlock on Cagle. Fly then applies a side headlock on Cagle. Cagle then makes a comeback and gets a one count on Fly after a dropkick, Roberts with a real slow count, and Roberts claims it hurt his hand. Cagle goes for another pinfall, but this time Roberts had something in his eye. Fly with a bulldog. Fly chokes Cagle, while this is going on Roberts walks around the ring and pays no attention to the choke, which got the fans rowdy. Fly with a La Magistral cradle for a two count. Cagle with a sunset flip and once again Roberts counts slow. Fly goes to work on Cagle's leg. Fly with a figure-four on Cagle while Cagle legs was wrapped around the ringpost. Fly with a half boston crab. Cagle with a schoolboy and once again Roberts counts really slow. Fly misses a spinning heel kick off the top. Fly then comes back and hits his maggot sandwhich for the win. After the match was over Fly hits another maggot sandwhich on Cagle. Ref Staggs comes out to help Cagle from ringside.
Notes: Roberts done a great job here of getting the fans into this. With Roberts playing the heel ref it made Cagle the underdog, and it gave the fans a spark of life. And it got the fans into the match. It turned out to be a pretty good match, not at the level as Fly vs. Stevens, but a pretty good opener.

2.Justin Envy defeated J.B. Wild by DQ
Envy with a good suplex on Wild. Wild with a series of rights on Envy. Wild with a dropkick off the top for a two count. Wild with a clothesline on Envy for a two count. Wild with a choke, then with a lowblow. Wild with a reverse chinlock. Wild misses a legdrop off the second turnbuckle. Storm then hits the ring and attacks Envy for the dq finish. Envy then challenged Storm to a mixed tag match for next week. And said for her to get a partner and he will get bambi.
Notes: This match really didn't come across that good to me. Envy and Wild just didn't click together. Envy is better in hardcore matches. And Wild seemed to do better in tag matches. So this match didn't help the crowd either, but it did set up a match for next week.

3.Bubba Boodrow defeated Krucifer
Krucifer attacks Boodrow from behind on the floor. Back in the ring Krucifer with a slam on Boodrow. Krucifer with a back elbow. Boodrow with a headbutt to the groins of Krucifer. Krucifer with a frogsplash for a two count. Boodrow comes back with a ddt on Krucifer for a two count. Boodrow with another two count. Boodrow then with a inside cradle for the win.
Notes: I really like Boodrow as face. I think he really done a great job on the change, usually it takes time to make that switch, but Boodrow really done a good job.

4.Wildthing Will Owens defeated Big Easy by DQ
The match was suppose to be Horton vs. Easy, but as Horton was on the way to the ring Owens stopped him and said he invested to much in him and said he wanted Easy. Easy outpowers Owens. Owens claims Easy pulled his tights. Easy outpowers Owens again. Owens then tries to shoulderblock Easy, but to no avail. Owens says he's not warmed up yet and starts exercising. Owens attacks Easy from behind. Owens with a choke on Easy. Easy with a clothesline, then a suplex then drops an elbow on Owens for a two count. Owens goes to work on the left leg of Easy. Owens continues to work on Easy's leg. Easy with atomic drop on Owens. Owens with a backdrop. Easy comesback with a clothesline off the second turnbuckle. Owens with a legdrop for a two count. Easy with a big boot to the face of the ref. Then Easy with a chokeslam on Owens. Bull Horton then hits the ring. Horton with a big splash on Easy. Owens then tells ref to raise his hand and the ref does.
Notes: Owens really worked hard to get the crowd into this match. I like the match plus it continue to build the Big Easy vs. Bull Horton match.

5.Wild Irish Rose defeated Steve Plezing w/Destiny by DQ
Rose attacks Plezing from behind. Rose with a clothesline on Plezing. Rose then goes to work on the left knee of Plezing. Plezing puts the boots to Rosie. Plezing goes to work on Rosie's leg. Rosie puts the boots to Plezing. Rosie with a camel Clutch on Plezing, and the fans was trying to tell the ref that Plezing's foot was on the ropes, but it took the ref awhile to get it. Destiny then comes in the ring and attacks Rosie. And Plezing is then DQ. After the match Plezing wanted to know what Destiny was doing, and didn't like it cause she cost him the match.
Notes: Press Release - Please don't turn Plezing heel. I really like the Plezing and Destiny team. They work good together. Plus the redneck gimmick works for both of them. After the match it seemed like they were building to a Plezing heel turn. When Destiny attacked Rosie it set the place on fire as the fans really seemed to injoy it. I know I did. It would also seem they was building to Destiny vs. Rosie, which I'm pretty sure the fans would be into, but I don't know if Destiny is ready for a match yet as her match with Kelly was kept short, Maybe she could sneak up behind Rosie with a schoolboy and get a quick pinfall which would probably pop the crowd.

6.Bull Horton defeated Whiplash & Steveen Michaels & Bennin
Horton outpowers everyone, then Horton man-handles everyone. Everyone tried to triple team Horton, but it didn't last long as Horton once again took the advantage. Horton had all three stand in the turnbuckle then Horton with a big splash in the turnbuckle. Horton then hits the big splash on Whiplash for the win.
Notes: This match was mostly a squash, but a entertaining squash. I like how they turned Horton into a monster here. Plus it makes you believe that Easy is going to have his hands full when he takes on Horton.

7.Venom defeated Mr. Big
Venom with a lowblow. Big suplexes Venom on the floor. Back in the ring Venom with a suplex on Big. Big with a turantula on Venom. Big misses a splash in the turnbuckle. Venom with a legdrop off second rope. Big with a frogsplash. Big gets a two count. Venom with a suplex. Big with a belly 2 belly off the top rope. Rosie comes out and steals Big's cape. Venom with a ddt for the win. Kage and Bret Christopher attacks Venom on the floor aand throws him through the curtain.
Notes: I assume this sets up a match for next week between Mr. Big vs. Wild Irish Rose, which should be a pretty good match. It was pretty obvious who was under the Venom mask, but I'm not going to say since kayfabe still lives.

8.Adam Roberts & Thez defeated Jack Lord & T.C. Carnage and Bret Christopher & Kage in a triple threat
Roberts with a great chop on Carnage. Thez attacks Carnage on the floor. Roberts with a backrake on Carnage. Carnage with a suplex, Roberts then tries to tag, but he was in the wrong corner, then Lord tagged Roberts upside the head. Carnage with a fallaway slam on Roberts, but count is broken up by Thez. Christopher with a suplex on Carnage. Carnage with a ddt. Christopher with a belly 2 belly on Carnage for a two count. Christopher with a belly 2 belly on Lord. Lord then suplexes Christopher. Carnage with a reverse chinlock on Christopher. Double tag to Lord and Thez. Kage tried a F-5 on Thez, but Thez turned it into a ddt. Kage with a powerslam on Thez. Christopher and Kage double suplexes Thez. Christopher with a suplex cradle on Thez for a two count. Thez clips Lord from behind. Lord with a schoolboy on Roberts for a two count. Roberts works on Lords Leg. Roberts with a swinging neckbreaker on Carnage. Krucifer attacks Christopher on the floor. Roberts pins Christopher. So its now Robertss & Thez vs. Lord & Carnage. Lord with a big elbow to the head of Roberts. Roberts works on Lord's leg. Zero-X appears and Roberts gives chase. Thez uses a chain on Lord for the win. Everybody hits the ring. A big brawl then takes place all over the building. Zero-X messes up on a 450 splash, but then comes off the top with a legdrop and pins Roberts.
Notes: This match saved the show. This turned out to be an incredible match. The best Match of the night. Up to this point the show really wasn't that good and I probably would have giving it a B+, but the main event saved the show. I talk to another fan after the show and he said the same thing. The brawl afterwards was awesome. I'm giving this show an A-.
