NWA/APW Report 1/11/03
Reported By ~The Meatman~ on 1/12/03.
Welcome fans to the post match run-down for the January 11th
NWA-APW show. I am your host, The Meatman. I'd like to take
through the sights and sounds that made up an evening of
extreme action.
The night started off with the GM, Chuck Pepper
introducing the special guest announcer, none other than John
"The Body" Johnson. John got the crowd fired up with a rousing
welcome, and the first match hit the ring.
Match #1 Dangerous Donnie and Nightshade w/Oz
VS.
Krazy Kat and Corporal Chaos
Best 2 out of 3 falls
This match opened with The Dangerous one in the ring.
Now fans picture if you will, a man who looks like he shops at
the Ricky Morton retirement sale. After taking the stick and
bad-mouthing pretty much everyone in attendance, the bell sounded
and we got underway. The first fall was filled with wild action, and
went back and forth with Donnie and Shade picking up the win. The
second fall quickly got underway as things swung in favor of the man
from Camp LeJune and the Kat, and they picked up the 3 count. The 3rd
and final fall was quickly moving in the direction of Donnie and
shade. Until a miscue from the outside, in the form of a cookie sheet
to the head of Nightshade, courtesy of Oz. Fall 3 and the win to
corporal Chaos and Krazy Kat. With the Victory Kat and Chaos hit the
road, but that wasnt the end of the festivities. Donnie and Oz began
putting the boots to nightshade, which ended with Donnie saying that
Shade was the Weak link in their team, and his new partner would be
Oz.
Match #2 El Satanico
VS.
Chris Ace
Tables Match
Our second match of the night, kicked off with Satanico taking
the Mike and telling us, that he would put Chris Ace's FACE through
the table. Ace hit the ring and the action hit the roof. This is a
match that saw alot of back and forth action, with neither man taking
control. Now I'm not going to say these guys are fast, that would be
a discredit to them both, I really can't describe how fast this match
went. Between Marking out and Covering my eyes all I can say is, it was
over too quickly for my liking. After multiple misses from Satanico,
and quite possibly one of the best moves i've ever seen, Top rope walk-
dragon screw armwhip?, Satanico set up the table in the corner of the
ring. But a reversed Irish whip, and Ace sent Satanico face first into
the wood, BUT THE TABLE DIDN'T BREAK. So head official Murray, called
for the match to continue. Ace set up Satanico for another whip, which
Satanico reversed, sending Ace, FACE FIRST through the table. After the
match Satanico climbed the ropes and reminded us of what he'd said, and
yes Mr. Satanico, you did what you said you would. But You're still
EEEVVIIIILLLLLL!!!!!!!
The end of this match brought us to our first intermission. At
this point fans were allowed in the ring for photos with their favorite
wrestlers. MaBo and Sydney insisted we get our picture taken with Krazy
Kat (MaBo is a huge KK mark.) Thanks go out to John Johnson for the love
shown to us, we love wrestling and its fun to be acknowledged for it!
Thanks again John!
After the intermission, action resumed with John Johnson,
Introducing the next match.
Match #3 The Chaos Brothers
VS.
Benin and Damascus
Best 2 out of 3 falls
This match opened with a little bit of drama, as Baine (one half
of the Chaos brothers) got on the Mike. He stated that Murray had "Screwed
him" the night before in Mobile, and he had his own ref for the match.
After Murray got the boot, the bell rang and off we go. Once again this
match went fast. Move after move led to the first fall going to Benin and
Damascus. The Second fall got underway and went to The Chaos Brothers. The
Final fall of the match got underway and appeared to be headed to Benin
and Damascus, But a Run-in by the "Retired" Justin Valentine, and a
superkick to the chin of Damascus, and 1 2 3..The Chaos brothers Advance
to meet Krazy Kat and Corporal Chaos.
Match #4 Johnny 8 Ball
VS.
Whiplash
Extreme Championship Match
This match opened fast with neither man able to take control early
on. It didnt take long for the weapons to come into play in this one.
Between Barbed wire bats, Corn bread pans, Stop signs, Steel Chairs, Tables,
Ladders and trash can lids, its a wonder either man could walk afterwards.
This thing was filled with more high spots than I could even hope to
remember. Some of the Highlights were a top rope cross body to the floor
by whiplash, and a running backflip off the chair, onto a prone Johnny
8Ball on the floor. These 2 men laid it on the line, but in the end
Whiplash came away with the Victory. Hats off to both men for one Hell of
a match.
Match #5 Zero-X
Vs.
Hott Tubb
#1 contender for the Extreme Championship
This match opened with a little bit of subterfuge from the Hott
Tubb. Apparently he had injured his shoulder and was medically unable to
perform. That didnt stop him from coming to the ring with some eye candy
and running is mouth, which Zero-X quickly shut, Via street sign to the
head. At this point GM Chuck Pepper announced to Zero, You want a fight?
You got one! Enter Justin Valentine. Like the match before it, this one
was filled with highspots and hotshots. JV was on top of his game. This
match quickly got out of control with 2 ladders in the ring. Action
quickly moved out of the ring to the floor and into the crowd, with JV
diving not once, BUT TWICE from the top of the ladder to the unconcious
Zero-X. We also got to see a "Van Terminator" Courtesy of JV. But in the
end, an X Factor from Zero-X proved to be the Winner. Once again, to both
men, Fantastic match. 4****
Match #6 Main Event
Death Row
VS.
Sweet Daddy
Heavyweight Championship
We opened with Death Row on the Mike announcing that Sweet Daddy
Was a no-show for the Evening. At that point he issued an open Challenge
for anyone who wanted to take his title to come on down and get it.
Finally a member of the audience stepped forward and challenged the
Lunatic Champion. Death row told him if he could stay in the ring just
5 Minutes with him, He could have his title. "The Guy" I didnt get his n
name, hit about 2 moves and the Big Man went Ballistic. Total carnage
ensued with Death Row showing his disregard for "The Guy" by Kneeling on
his neck, gouging his eyes, and basically making him Scream and Beg for
Mercy. About 2 minutes in Chris Ace, came in from the back to stop the
punishment, but he was followed by El Satanico, who had ideas of his own.
Things rapidly broke down with Satanico, and Ace fighting outside the ring
and Death Row, and "The Guy" in the ring. WIth the action outside getting
a bit more heated, Death row decided to take a break from the Beating of
"The Guy" and help Satanico destroy Ace. Coming from behind, he scooped
Ace in what looked like an Atomic Drop, except that he proceeded to CARRY
him to a table, which had been set up earlier, and launched the man through
the table to floor. An impressive display of strength from the Heavyweight
Champion to end the show.
That wraps up my post match review. I'd like to go ahead and give
credit where it's due. Heres my personal Faves.
Best Match: This one is a toss-up between, Ace and Satanico, or Whiplash
and 8Ball. I really can't say which was better because both were AWESOME!
Best Highspot: Van Terminator from JV to Zero-X. Killer spot to see
at a live indy show.
Best Pop: Chris Ace. Being from Birmingham, and clearly a fan Fave, helps
chris get this one.
Best Heat: Once again, Justin Valentine. Anyone who comes out to Brittney
Spears, Oops I did it again, is gonna get blasted by the crowd. Also
we know were number 1 justin, you dont have to remind us!
Thanks again to the Workers and Management of the APW for allowing me to
be a small part of the excitement. To the fans of the APW, these guys are
really very cool and approachable. They want you top enjoy the show. If
you arent cheering or booing, they arent happy. Next show, lets turn it
up to the next level. Bring the Noise, bring the heat, and most of all..
Bring a Friend. It's you in the crowd, that makes it all possible!
