Interview with Confederate Kid

Confederate Kid represents the pride of Dixie

When Hank Williams Jr.’s, “If Heaven’s Not a Lot Like Dixie” fills the arena, fans know it’s time for the arrival of the Confederate Kid. Wearing his trademark cowboy hat and draped in the Stars and Bars, the Kid always gets a warm welcome from the crowd.

The Kid is a veteran of four years in the Continental Championship Wrestling (under its various names). He was trained there by Buddy Dalton of the well-known Dalton Family (“He trained me for six months of Hell”, the Kid noted), brother of Jesse and Steve Dalton. The Kid also helped build the CCW ring as well as wrestle.

The Kid said he got into wrestling on a whim.

“It was one of those spur-of-the-moment things”, the Kid said during our interview in Ozark. “I tried it just because I could do it. I love it”!

His name and dress came after he and some friends debated about, “What I could go out as”, Kid said. “ ‘The Confederate Kid’ just popped up in my mind, so I said, Let’s try it”. The Kid said he enjoys studying about the Confederacy, so the name stuck. He purchased his beautiful Stars and Bars cape through another wrestler from the Exotic Adrian Street.

The Kid was called to come to the American Wrestling Federation, and he has thrived since his arrival. The Confederate Kid was AWF Junior Heavyweight Champion until recently, and he also participates in tag-team competition. “I enjoy every minute of it”, the Kid said.
