Interview With McInnis

Here is a interview I had with Kris McInnis. McInnis runs the DwA backyard promotion. I don't cover backyards feds, But DwA had heat with the UCW promotion. Here is McInnis account of what happen.

Chris: there is heat between the DWA and indy promoters, Where did this heat originate from?

McInnis: Basically, a few months ago there was a difference of opinion between Nero, myself and Will Owens over a certain event that was to take place during our first match. Personally, I believe the entire situation was blown-up more than it should have been, which isn't just one person's fault, but both parties. Nevertheless, it happened and no one can really change that. Afterwards, once we restarted the DwA, that we were seriously misunderstood and branded as these 'degenerates', if I may steal that phrase. I think that the whole ordeal has blown over since then, and I have been assured that other workers have no heat with me or anyone associated with me, but there are still a few folks who tend to bring it back up for cheap laughs. So, you never know...

Chris: Can you describe what the different of opinion between Owens and DWA were? and the event your talking about?

McInnis: What had happened was Nero and I were under the impression that we had free range over everything in the match since it was, indeed, our first match in the UCW. We had planned a match from beginning to end. However, about an hour before the show, a worker walked up to us and said that a Big Easy would hit the ring at the end of the match, despite what we had thought before about the whole 'free-range' idea. We confronted Owens about from a friendship perspective, and were trying to ask where the storyline or the angle behind this event was. However, speaking to him in more of a friendly way rather than 'talking to a promoter', 'yes-man' tone, we might have said something 'unbusiness'-like. which prompted the all the crap that followed. We personally didn't care if Big Easy hit or not. If it had to be done, so be it, that wasn't the concern. But our questioning whether it was justified or not and 'challenging authority' as some would call it, we didn't understand what the big deal about it was.

As for the differences of opinion, the DWA got back into the mix of things for one sole purpose: Have fun, and have all the overly serious melodrama that we had seen first hand at many indy feds (whether it be at Mickey's place or UCW). But some smart guys continued to accuse us 'trying to put someone out of business'. I'll admit, the DWA is a backyard fed at the moment. It was never our 'objective' to get back at anyone. We just wanted to run a show our way: carefree and have a good time in the process, without being so uptight about everything. And we're doing just that....

Chris: So the heat DWA has with UCW and some workers originated from a misunderstanding?

McInnis: From my point of view, yes. Challenging the authority of a promoter was not our motive. We just believed that we could speak frankly with Will as a friend, but we were apparently wrong. Things were blown way out of proportion and, again, I'm not pointing fingers at any one specific party.

Chris: If you could talk to Owens and other workers DwA has heat with, to try to solve the problem, what would you say?

McInnis: I talked to Will personally a few weeks ago and he assured me that everything had died down considerably and claimed he had a spot for me in the UCW if I was willing to take it. For Nero too, although he had to 'talk with him'...whatever that means. Nero and I have also spoke to a few of the YBW members and we have tried to make it clear that we don't have a personal problem with anyone from the 'buisness' stand point and whole situation was drawn out longer than it should have been. Will we go back to UCW? Eventually, it's a possibility, I'm not ruling it out. However, what some people don't tend to realize is that I'm not in the whole wrestling groove because I think it's a stepping stone to the WWF (WWE....whatever they call it now.) If the oppertunity were to come along, fine. Great. Bring it on, but I'm not going to let the focus of my future. I'm sure the rest of the DWA members would agree with me.

Chris: Any last comments?

McInnis: No, I think I've said enough for one day. I'd do the whole "follow your dreams" bid, but that just wouldn't be my style LoL. Thanks alot... FutoMara... --McInnis--
