Bash's, Thrash's and Anonymous postings. Or, Thoughts from an Internet "Smart Mark."

I want to set the stage for this, my first real column on any Alabama wrestling website or board. Alot of you Have seen my name on the Various wrestling Boards, for assorted promotions throughout the state. So who the Hell is ~The Meatman~? I'm a 31 year old, father of 4. I've been a fan since the days of "Rockin Wrestlin" and Hulk Hogans Cartoon. I really came on board in the late 80's and early 90's when the whole WWF thing was on the upswing. Shawn Michales vs. Razor Ramon (Ladder Match) still stands out in my mind, as the greatest match ever! Anyhow, I digress, Like I said I have 4 kids. The reason I bring this up is, I read alot of stuff on the boards from people claiming, "I wouldn't let my kids come to that show" or, "I won't let my kids visit this site." WHY? That's the question I'm going to try to get to the bottom of.

I want to start by addressing the Internet audience. Anyone who knows me, or has read any of my random Crap, Knows I HATE anonymous postings. I detest these little BS names like, "You know who" and, "Wise old man." If you have something to say, please, be a man (Or woman) and say it. But don't hide behind your keyboard. The web host's have ways of finding out who you are. You can't remain anonymous forever. Another thing that burns my A$$ is this annoying habit of using other peoples Screenames and posting Crap. This has happened to me once or twice. I know it lead to the reformatting of the AL-Wrestling board. It has lead to Various boards requiring passwords and registration to post. It's just plain pathetic. About 3 monts ago, it got out of control. Someone was Posting on the AL. boards under Al Savage's name. Now let me clairify, I have never met Mr. Savage, seen him wrestle, or even know what promotion he's a part of. I just know, it's wrong for anyone to Slander a man's reputation for nothing. Now, it's started again on another board. People posting anonymous, claiming to be insiders or know the owner. Giving their little bits of advice (You know who you are!) Honestly, do you think they care what you say? Get a life!

Now, to the live audience. What can you say about the Butts in the seats? Well, Im one of those. I'm a mark! I can't help it, I won't lie to you. I love Wrestling. Always have, always will. I've been asked by the good folks at APW, to help write columns for their website. I'm trying desperately to get in the good graces of the workers and promoters, so I can bring the Internet fan, an honest, unbiased view, from behind the curtain. But once again, I digress. The live audience is the key to any sucessful wrestling promotion. If we don't show, ya'll don't make any money! I'm not sure how many promtions are active around the state, but it seems like quite a few have gone under. My point is, be entertaining. Build a fan base, and Put on one hell of a show. I'm sensing alot of jealousy on the Boards. I've only been to a couple of shows this year (2002) and I had a blast at them. The thing is, we want to go again. So why is someone in the seats blasting away at the workers? Guys, we the "Fans" love what you do. Keep up the good work. Keep the insults coming. Cheap heat is good heat, isn't it?

Please keep in mind, this is the first thing I've written for any type of column, so it may seem disjointed and rambling. Hopefully, you all wil take this as what I intended it to be, a true statement, from the HEART of a true fan! Faces, Heels, Managers or Valets. Announcers, Promoters and Commisioners. You guys are living my dream. In a way I get to live it through you. Thanks for allowing me to be a small part of your community. ~The Meatman~
