Personality: Hinissa is a loner. She's very introvertive and likes to keep to herself. However, to those that can break through her tough exterior, she's very kind and giving. She's a very logical individual and has a gift for numbers even though she cannot read very well. Her manners are not the best as she didn't have much in the way of an education, so she usually comes across as rude. She's generally a focused individual and will work on something until it's complete.
History: Hinissa was born as the second daughter to a tanner father and his wife. She was a very sickly child, but luckily her health improved as she grew older. Unfortunately, her father died of natural causes when she only had ten turns. She had always been very close with her father, and the loss hit her very hard. She closed herself off to most of the rest of the world.
Although Hinissa got along just fine with her older sister, it was her brother that she dearly loved, especially after her father's death. She doted on him quite a bit and was constantly creating new toys for him to play with or showing him different things. He had been born seven turns after her, and while her mother and older sister were busy figuring out a way to scrape a living together for them, Hinissa looked after and basically raised her brother.
Hinissa had always had a fondness for wood carving. Her father had taught her a couple of turns before his death, and she had treasured the skill in his memory every since. So, it was no surprise that she decided to go study to become a woodsmith. Her mother strongly opposed the idea, but Hinissa, with the recommendation of one of her father's friends, went anyway.
Once at the hall, Hinissa did very well. She had an eye for design and a precision in measurements that many of the other apprentices lacked. Her masters quickly recognized this and recommended that she study paper making instead. She thought the prospect interesting enough to look into, and once she discovered how detailed and precise the process was, she was hooked.
Hinissa spent six turns studying paper making and has a deep understanding of the process. She loves paper making and understands its importance in bringing records to more people. She planned to continue to study to become a master at her craft, but when Searchriders asked her to go to the weyr instead, she decided to take her chances. After all, the only thing better than paper making was riding a dragon, right?
