One of the best preserved mortuary temple sites on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor is that dedicated to Ramses III at a village close by the Colossi of Memnon, called Medinet Habu.
The first Pylon (front outer wall) stands today, almost as it did when constructed three and a half thousand years ago. It looks very much like the pylon at Edfu (next page), which was constructed well over a thousand years later.
A visit to this temple is not usually part of the tourist itinerary even though it stands close to other visited sites.
