The West Bank of the Nile at Luxor is the home of all the burial sites for the pharaohs who ruled Egypt between 3500 to 3000 years ago.
The Valley of the Kings contains the bulk of these sites but other important tombs can be visited at the Valley of the Queens and Valley of the Nobles. Many of the more important tombs have their own temples, usually at some distance from the tombs themselves which are hidden in man made caves in the hillsides.
The temple dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut (seen here) is one such mortuary temple and is extremely impressive in its size and scale. It is very modern looking for a temple built 3500 years ago.
