In international law, the Turkish Cypriot zone of Cyprus is illegally occupied by the Turkish army. The Turks have their side of the story to tell and this is only too obvious when visiting Nicosia and Famagusta (or Lefkosa and Gazimagusa as they are now known). Nevertheless, there are many good reasons for visiting this relatively undeveloped part of the Mediterranean, as I hope my pictures will illustrate.
