 | Ronda, in the Andalusian Mountains, owes its great attraction as one of the leading tourist sights in southern Spain to its extraordinary situation.
The town is built on a high plateau, which is divided in two by a deep gorge. You can see here the bridge, which joins the two halves of the town as it is viewed from the bottom of the gorge.
The bridge is relatively new, dating from the 19th century. Its architect fell to his death whilst making a final inspection of the work from a basket suspended over the side.
