Sephiroth

Sephiroth is one of the greatest villains of all time. He has everything a truely great bad guy needs: he started out essentially a good guy, found a glitch in his past that presented insanity, went on a feverish warpath and destroyed an entire town, a mega-corp covered up the destruction for him, his maddened mind believes he's something of a grander scale than he actually is, and to top it all off, he's just the kind of guy you really love to hate. The little grin that played on his face after he drove his sword through Aeris' midriff was a nice touch, and pulling the massive blade back out slowly added to the torment of losing a member of the party. Showing Sephiroth, even in clone form, throughout the game in pieces of history, or being hot on his trail, made for a tight storyline. There's one true goal, save the planet, that means destroying the man who wants it destroyed in the first place, but add the little personal reasons behind all this and there's no wonder why Final Fantasy VII has outlasted the span of it's four year exsistance. Sephiroth has a large part in making that happen, he's just a fantastic villain, bad to the bone, yet you feel for him in some way. He's been dished a bum deal on his platter of life and it's something we can all relate to.
