Irvine Kinneas

Irvine is, in my opinion, the least appreaciated of all Final Fantasy VIII's characters, but at the same time, the most mysterious. We know virtually nothing about him, save for his love of guns and women. He's self-admittedly not a SeeD, he's the only one of the main group, excluding Rinoa of course, who remembers anything about his true past until he awakens the memories of the others, and he's just plain enigmatic. Love him or hate him, there's really not much of an in-between with Irvine, but personally, he's my favorite character of the bunch. He has no identity that we know of, but as he's been touted, he is an excellent marksman and a rather consumate ladies man indeed, his only problem is that he has this slight problem with inadequacy when the pressure is on. Now, critics of the game seem to be really picky about this little flaw, but the thing is, everyone has choked under pressure before. It's natural, and when the fate of the world rests on one bullet being fired from your gun...I think I'd be a little doubtful of myself too. He's my healer, I save his attacking for limit skills because he's got some of the best in the game, just douse him with Aura a few times and buh-bye. This established, I use him as a medic in the field and a shooter in a boss fight, Lion Heart be damned, I can hardly get it to occur, while Irvine's a guaranteed hit, everytime. So I say "booooooo" to all you Irvine-bashers out there, come down off the Squall bandwagon for awhile because while you're struggling to obtain Lion Heart...I've all ready squashed Ultimecia like bug with a few Aura's worth of Pulse Ammo.

Effect
Source
Normal Shot
Normal Ammo
attacks one enemy at a time with decent damage and the target can be switched quickly
can be purchased or refined from Screws
Scatter Shot
Shotgun Ammo
less damaging than Normal Ammo, it's advantage is that it hits every enemy present in battle
must be purchased, Shotgun Ammo cannot be refined
Dark Shot
Dark Ammo
attacks like Normal Ammo, but adds various abnormal statuses like Sleep, Poison, Silence and Blind
can be refined from either Venom Fangs or Poison Powder
Flame Shot
Fire Ammo
attacks all enemies present but is elemental, thus useless if your opponent absorbs or nullifies fire damage
can be refined from Red Fangs
Canister Shot
Demolition Ammo
attacks one enemy at a time, and although slow to load, it packs a mean wallop
can be refined from Missles, Running Fires or Cactus Thorns
Quick Shot
Fast Ammo
works like a machine gun, the hits are fairly weak, but this limit hits more times than any of the others. Always keep a good supply in stock or you may run out during a bombardment
can be refined from Normal Ammo and Shotgun Ammo
Armor Shot
AP Ammo
similar to Demolition Ammo, but faster to reload, AP Ammo disregards the enemy's defense and stomps down upon them. Start refining this stuff as soon as Ifrit learns Ammo Refine
can be refined from Chef's Knives or Sharp Spikes
Hyper Shot
Pulse Ammo
Armageddon in a bullet, Pulse Ammo has a fair reload time and most generally strikes for 9999 every round, with an average fire rate of 5 to 6 shots per limit, that's about 40-50,000 points of damage per round of Irvine's limit...can anyone say "buh-bye"?
can be refined from Energy Crystals, Laser Cannons and Power Generators
