Elayne Lamina-Verberare, a young elf with seven children, met Gye Trivanni, a well respected and powerful human mage, at the dawn of her 199th year. At first, the beautiful elf openly shunned the human's presence, having only eyes for her beloved husband, Selwyn. However, the human mage did not take too kindly of her scorning his affections and persuaded the elf into his bed with a powerful spell of charming then left without another word, unknowing of the child conceived in the act of ultimate betrayal. Elayne returned to her home in shame in disgrace to give birth to a half-human daughter, one who was not allowed to bear the name of her husband and was instead given the name of her own father.
Youngest of four boys and four girls, Emerald Mei Viscus Absque te Lamina is the half-elvin daughter of an adulterous union between her elfin mother and human father. Emerald is only the half sister of her elder siblings and had to live with the well-known fact that she was half human in a family full of full blooded elves, the result being the alienation between herself and her four brothers and three sisters.
Unable to bear the scorn in her step-father's eyes or the aloofness of her siblings in her presence, Emerald ran away from home at a very young age of ten years. After being caught stealing food from a vender's cart an elder thief rescued Emerald from the cruel fate of having her right hand cut off and brought her with him to the guild of thieves living secretly within the wilderness. The mage Travinni soon learned of his elusive daughter and immediately sought out to destroy the bastard child who could ruin his social standings amongst the circle of mages. Emerald returned from town one afternoon to find the guild destroied and her 'family' murdered in cold blood, most of the surviors having scattered and only a few remaining behind to tell of the girl who had betrayed the guild by revealing Emerald's presence to Trivanni. Heartbroken and empty, Emerald set off on her own with revenge set firmly and heavily on her mind. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
