Cloud Strife

Cloud is a welcome change from the goody goody "I want to save the world" hero, he's got a darkness that intruigues us. He's basically as dark as the villain of the story, but he harnesses it and turns it around, helping himself while helping others. He's got a certain panache that most heroes just don't have, he's bold, yet has his weaknesses-claustrophobia and motion sickness being two of them. These weaknesses and his almost reluctance to be a hero are partially what makes him so appealing to gamers, he just seems to be someone people can relate to. He is my sixth favorite character, overpowered by Cait Sith only by one point due to humor.

Limit Skills

Level One
Cloud's limit skills start with Braver a massive sword attack that drops about 1-200 HP off the opposition at first and increases as his levels rise. Cross-Slash does major damage while also paralyzing the enemy, this is extremely useful in situations where you're up against a powerful foe or while battling Rufus alone during the escape from Midgar.
Level Two
Blade Beam starts off level two with a sweet show of force. Target the strongest enemy of a group first, as the waves that flow out from the initial force are slightly weaker. Climhazzard is a God send if you can get it early enough in the game to use against enemies such as Jenova-BIRTH and Gi Nattak. Cloud will lunge at his opponent, driving his sword into them, then follow through with a jump that does massive damage.
Level Three
Meteorain begins level three with a bang, this is an attack you'll use for the rest of the game, that is if you don't have the patience to obtain Omnislash. Cloud will work up energy into his sword, then jump into the air and release it in the form of non-elemental meteor damage that's actually best used on a single opponent. Finishing Touch, however; is the opposite. This attack creates a massive whirlwind that either scoops the opposition up and disposes of them, or sends then hurtling back down to earth for some mean damage. It's wasted on a single enemy, though; and should be reserved for groups.
Level Four
Omnislash dishes out extreme pain and agony on a group, or a single enemy. Used with the Ultima Weapon, this attack can do just as much, if not more damage than the Knights of the Round summon, it's fantastic if you can get Cloud to achieve limit at the end of the game.
