CID HIGHWIND

Cid Highwind has enough attitude for every character in FF7 to share, but he's got a good heart underneath his gruff exterior and oft times foul mouth. He's my seventh favorite character, and falls below Cloud only because of Omnislash, so don't get me wrong, he's a great all around character. Setting aside the limit skill, he outranks Cloud in personality and identification. He's lost his only dream, something we can all relate to at one time or another, but he ultimately regains it. Cid's not shy about his views, he's often brash, but he's got a sensitive side and is generally apologetic when the time is right for it. In terms of fighting skill, Cid is a great addition to the team. He's got a lot of power and is a great frontline combatan while maintaining an equally stable ability with materia. If not overloaded, he can be as powerful a magic user as he is a fighter, so if you need a medic for a certain task that you have two other fighters for, Cid's a worthy candidate for it. All in all, he's a great character, that falls low on my ranking chain only because of Cloud's Omnislash, in terms of personality, he overshadows the game's leading character ten fold, plus, his theme song is one of the coolest pieces of music in the entire game.

Limit Skills

Level One
Boost Jump begins Cid's limit skills with a powerful physical attack that hits a single opponent. It's not flashy, but is a hardhitting blow that will generally kill weaker enemies with one hit. Dynamite is a group killer and wasted on a single enemy, but quickly overpowers Boost Jump and will be the choice of Cid's level one skills.
Level Two
Level two starts off with Hyper Jump, a physical attack much like Boost Jump, only it attacks an entire group with a lot more force. Like Dynamite, it's completely wasted on a single opponent. His second skill of this level is Dragon in which Cid will summon a dragon that will attack a single opponent, transferring magic and health to Cid. The MP boost is a welcome addition to his skills, while the HP transfer is rather insignificant. All in all, Hyper Jump is the skill most used in this level.
Level Three
Dragon Dive begins level three with an effectively powerful chain attack. It hits random enemies for major damage and works well against a group, or a single opponent. Big Brawl is another great group attack and hits for less amounts of damage than Dragon Dive, but ultimately hits more times. Of the two, Dragon Dive is the more substantial.
Level Four
As expected, Cid's level four skill, Highwind is a massive, all out bombing raid from the Highwind itself. The damage not only racks into the thousands, but it's also cumulative, making Highwind another one of the best in the game.
