The Legendary Tale
A Humble Beginning
Imagine. You're sitting on the dock in a harbor town, or maybe occupying a table in the corner of a seedy pub. Perhaps you're taking a day's rest in a quiet country inn or even forging a path through some dark, dismal forest when a messenger approaches you with a leather envelope, sealed with heavy silk thread and weighted. Before you can ask questions, the messenger is gone, leaving behind the envelope. Upon opening, you discover a letter written in blue ink and a velvet purse full of copper, silver, gold and platinum coins amounting to a sum of 300.
The Offer
Such is the case in this story. The wealthy merchant, Newton Tunry, from the bustling city of Jiat has selected nine people of various backgrounds, histories and occupations to guide and protect him on a great quest. Dispatching nine messengers, all with leather envelopes containing a letter and a velvet purse. The letter is clear and to the point. The 300 in the purse is an offer of employment, should the person accept, much more is to be had. Instructions accompany the introduction, to meet him at a corner pub in the city of Jiat, an address follows.
The Quest
Newton's quest is to search for the Throne of the Gods, an artifact located in the very bowels of an unnamed mountain. The quest begins with the search of information, in order to reach the Throne, it must be found. Hidden in the world are six pieces of an ancient map with the location of the mountain named when all six pieces are together.
