2001 ASMLA SILHOUETTE CHAMPIONSHIP

Thanks to everyone that came out and shot our first match of the year. As usual the weather did not cooperate but that did not keep scores down. In the expert class a 66 out of 75 won last year and a 66 won again this year. The only difference was that Sam Gladden shot the 66 last year and Bill Millican shot the 66 this year. The big difference between this year and last year is second and third place. Last year 2nd place was won with a 58 this year a 65, 3rd place last year 55 this year a 65. So you can see the scores in the Expert Class have tightened up a great deal. This is true for all the classes where the scores this year were either better or equal to last years. I feel this is due to a couple reasons. First, we are shooting more competitions here in our state and this is helping to sharpen our competitive edge and secondly I believe that there is some practicing being done by those that want to improve their scores. Our attendance was up by 8 over last year with 14 who had not shot this match before. We want to extend a special thanks to those individuals for coming out to shoot with us. With the weather being as bad as it was we were glad to have such a good crowd and I know the weather kept some of our regular shooters that have to travel to get here from coming. One of these days we are going to have great weather and a good crowd and it will be a great match. We still have a lot of shooting to be done so if you did not get to attend this match come to some of our other matches.
