Game Summaries

 

Shades Valley-7  Decatur-2 -Schuyler Redpath, Dimiji Ogunsola, and John Latting each scored twice, and Tony Simonetti once to give Valley a convincing victory over Decatur.  Records:SV-11-1-2.

Shades Valley-3  Clay-Chalkville-0 -Cam Shepherd scored twice and Tony Simonetti once to give Valley a 3-0 victory.  Eric Stewart and Joseph Anthony combined in goal for the shutout.

Shades Valley-4  Oxford-0 - Shades Valley got 2 goals from Schuyler Redpath, 1 from Cam Shepherd and 1 from Stephen Collins to take this area matchup.  Eric Stewart got the shutout in goal.

Shades Valley-2  Mountain Brook-0- Shades Valley dominated a scoreless 1st half, putting shots everywhere but the goal.  Kenny Robinson broke the scoring open in the 1st minute of the 2nd half, beating the sweeper and the goalie for a 1-0 Valley lead.  Valley continued to press and it paid off on a goal by Rocky Baucom from Cam Shepherd to finish the game 2-0.  Eric Stewart got the shutout in goal.

Shades Valley-3  Vestavia-3 - What a game, anyone who saw this game got a treat.  Two of the top teams in Birmingham did not disappoint.  Shades Valley scored first off a corner kick goal by Kenny Robinson assisted by Schuyler Redpath.  Shades Valley struck again when Cam Shepherd played a through ball to Schuyler Redpath, who slipped it past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.  With 10 min. left in the 1st half, Vestavia cut the lead to 2-1, and at the 5 min. mark tied the match on a PK by Michael Phillips.  2-2 at half.  5 min. into the 2nd half, Schuyler Redpath put Shades Valley up 3-2, taking the ball off of the keepers feet and past him for a goal.  Vestavia tied the game up with 15 min. left, and that's how the game would end, 3-3.

Sh ades Valley-8  Pell City-0 -In the 2nd area game of the season, Shades Valley put this game out of reach early.  Getting 1st half goals from Schuyler Redpath, Cam Shepherd, Rocky Baucom, Walker Reynolds and two from Stephen Collins.  In the 2nd half, Valley got goals from Nick Hayes and Ryan Hood.  Joseph Anthony got the shutout in goal.  SV: 7-1-1

Shades Valley-9  Austin-0 -In the area opener for both teams, Shades Valley scored early and often to shut down Austin.  Cam Shepherd scored 2 goals, and Schuyler Redpath, Trevor Redpath, Ryan Hood, Eric Stewart, Rocky Baucom, John Latting, and Tony Simonetti each scored one.  Joseph Anthony got the shutout in goal.  Records: SV:6-1-1; Austin:Unknown

Shades Valley-0  Pelham-0 -Shades Valley had numerous chances to put this one away, putting 2 shots off the crossbar and 1 off the post.  Both teams defenses held their own to keep this game at 0-0.  Eric Stewart recorded the shutout in goal.  Records: SV:5-1-1; Pelham:0-1-1

Shades Valley - 2  Hoover - 0 -The first half was played both ways, with each team having equal opportunities on goal.  About 12 minutes into the second half, Clay Jones scored the first goal on assist from Dimeji Ogunsola to put Shades Valley up 1-0.  Dimeji Ogunsola then took a pass from Clay Jones and slipped the ball over the keepers head to put Valley up 2-0.  A solid defensive effort and solid goalkeeping shutdown the Hoover offense.  Eric Stewart recorded the shutout in goal.  Records:  SV: 5-1; Hoover: 1-1

Randolph - 3  Shades Valley - 1 -Both teams had  numerous chances to score in the first half.  Randolph went ahead  on a goal by Hollings Dworsky to give Randolph a 1-0 lead going into the half.  The second half Randolph took control of the game and Dworsky scored 2 more goals to give Randolph a comfortable 3 - 0 lead.  Shades Valley scored with 15 minutes left on a goal by Cam Shepherd from Schuyler Redpath to cut the lead to 3-1.  Randolph shut down Valley the rest of the game for a 3-1 victory and a spot in the finals of the Lakeshore Shootout. Shades Valley - 3  Cullman - 0 -Shades Valley played conservative this game.  Having a majority of the starters watching from the sidelines, Valley won this game fairly comfortably.  Clay Jones scored a goal early in the first half for Valley for a 1-0 lead at the half.  Midway through the second half, Schuyler Redpath hit Dimeji Ogunsola to put Valley ahead 2-0.  To finish Cullman off, Brett Schinert scored on pass from Ben McCoullough to end the game at 3-0 and give Valley a spot in the semi-finals of the Lakeshore Shootout.  Joseph Anthony recorded the shutout in goal.  Records:  SV: 4-0; Cullman: 0-4

Shades Valley - 2  Fairhope - 0 -This was an extremely physical match, with 1 red card(Fairhope) and numerous yellows given.  Shades Valleys Kenny Robinson took a pass from 10 yards out and put it past the Fairhope keeper for a 1-0 lead at half.  Valley then took the kickoff and scored 12 seconds into the second half, with Ryan Hood playing a beautiful long ball to Schuyler Redpath, who knocked the ball back to Cam Shepherd at the 6 for a goal and a 2-0 lead.  Shades Valleys Ryan Bevis, Walker Reynolds, and John Latting all put forth great defensive efforts to help Eric Stewart record his first shutout of the season.  Records:  SV: 3-0; Fairhope: 1-1

Shades Valley - 4  Briarwood - 1 -Briarwood took a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the first half.  With about 10 minutes left in the first half, Schuyler Redpath was taken down in the penalty box to set Ryan Bevis up for a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.  Valley came out strong in the second half.  Cam Shepherd took a pass from Ryan Hood to put SV up 2-1 10 minutes into the 2nd half.  Hood then played Kenny Robinson a ball 8 yards out for a 3-1 lead.  To finish off the scoring, Trevor Redpath played a ball to Ryan Foster who put it away to finish the game 4-1.  Records:  SV: 2-0; Briarwood: 0-1

Shades Valley-4  Oak Mountain-2 -15 minutes into the first half, Tobenna Chekwa hit a ball far post to put Shades Valley up 1-0.  With 5 minutes left in the half, Schuyler Redpath took the ball off an Oak Mountain defenders foot at midfield and took it the distance for a goal and a 2-0 Valley lead at half time.  Schuyler Redpath scored again in the 2nd half on a pass from Dimeji Ogunsola for a 3-0 lead.  With 12 minutes left, Oak Mountain made a valiant effort at a comeback.  Oak Mountains Hamilton King slipped the ball past SVs Joseph Anthony to cut the lead to 3-1.  With 6 minutes left, King struck again, lofting the ball over Anthonys head to make it 3-2.  Schuyler Redpath then dribbled the keeper and played a wide open Tobenna Chekwa to give Shades Valley a 4-2 victory.  Records:  SV: 1-0; Oak Mountain: 0-1
