I feel that Road Rash 3-D is a great follow up to the series. This has
everything from
racing on the back roads to racing down a 8 lane highway. It has a
variety of bikes to choose
from. There are different modes of racing. It also has a greatsoundtrack.
This game picks up where Road Rash 3 left off. It has tremendous
graphics. The courses
are a little different than the old ones. For the fact that there are
different sections of the tracks
where different bikers parts are. Although there are many places where
you can turn off from the
track and go off the course and just ride. You will never win a race
that way but if you are just
screwing around. (Like a lot of us do when we are bored.) Then you can
just try to out run the
cops on the tracks and just ride off the course and any where you want
to. The tracks vary a lot. I
minute you will be going down a 8 lane high way and then the next you
are in the back woods of
nowhere. But that makes the challenge. There is usually a choice of 2
or 3 tracks that you can
choose from after each race. The races progress longer and longer as
you advance up the game.
There are some killer bikes on this game. There are 4 different styles
of bikes that you can
choose from. These catagories are Racer, Sport, Rat, and Crusier. There
are three bikes to each
catorgorie. In the racer there is the Firecrackers 250RR, the
Missileblade 600VCR, and the
Tsunomi XRZ1000. In the Sport section you have the DuMoto999, the
DuMoto 500, and the
DMG 747. The Rat bikes you have the Predator 750, Scavenger 450, and
the Excutioner 1000. In
the Crusier catagory you have the Rattler, the Razerback, and The
Hammerhead. In each level
you need a faster bike. It is almost impossible to win with a slow bike
when you progress in the
game. So it is best to get a fast bike but also one you can control.
When you start out (in big
game) you get $5,000 to buy your bike. And like any other game the
better bikes are more
expensive than the not so good bikes. Racer, Sport, and Crusier are
mostly for on the road use
only. But the rat bike will performe much better offroad than the rest
of the bikes will. Youshould try each style of bike before picking a favorite.
There are 3 different modes (not counting the options). Thrash, Big
Game, and the time
trails. Trash is mostly to try the different bikes and the styles.
There is nothing up for grabs in
Thrash. But there are different levels in Thrash. Big Game is a
tournment. You compete against
other racers, buy your own bike, win money and progress through the
levels of the game. In this
mode you can becomed wrecked and arrested. Which will each cost you
money and they become
higher fines and repiars as you progress through the game. In this mode
you can also choose your
name. The third mode is the Time Trials. You race to see if you can get
the fastest. In this modeyou can choose any bike from any style of bikes.
In the options you have 6 choices. Juke Box(your music), Game
Mode(choose your game
mode), sound options(self-explantory), Controller Options(congfigure
your controller),
Credits(the people who made the game), and Load/Save your game(load or
save a game from
your memory card). In this game the options known as the restroom. You
can find this at themain menu.
One of mine and many others features of the game is the fighing. In
this game you can
kick and punch to start out with. The weapons are the Baseball Bat,
Crow Bar, Mace, Pipe, 2x4,
Nunchakus, Chain, Stun Gun, and the Cattle Prod. You recieve a weapon
by throwing a punch
when someone trys to use the weapon on you. Each gang has a liking ot a
weapon. I have found
the best ones are the baseball bat, 2x4, crow bar, and the pipe. These
work better than the rest
because it is a solid weapon and they don't swing or anything like
that. Like the chain when you
swing it theres a second or two where you have to swing it and you
might get hit before you hit them.
The soundtrack is also great. This is one of the few games where they
got bands to do the
music. They even took the songs of the game and made a cd intitled
"Road Rash 3-D the music".
I am not sure of the popularity but it has a lot of good music. The
bands are CIV, Full on the
Mouth, Kid Rock, The Mermen, Sugar Ray, and The Tea Party. The 2 most
famous bands are
Kid Rock and Sugar Ray. Which we all know of unless you live under arock.
This is a great racing game. It has everything from high speed chase
to fighting against
gangs to buying and racing your own bike. I feel that this is a great
game. The time of this game is
different for each player. It depends on your bike and your abilities.
This is a one player game.
Although in thrash mode you can set it up to six players but you have
to alternate the control.
You can also use the analog control. If you are looking to buy this
game I feel it is a must for any
gamer or racing fan. This game is only on PSX though so that is the
only down fall in my eyes.
This ends my review and happy riding. Also don’t be suprised if you see
some old faces.
