Future Cop LAPD

Eletronic Arts
By Video-Game-Junkie

Future Cop LAPD is the sequel to 1997's Nuclear Strike. Future Cop LAPD was originally called Future Strike, but for some reason it was changed to Future Cop LAPD. The game takes place in the year 2098. You are a rookie police office that pilots the TAC (Tactical Assault & Combat) X-1 Alpha. This vehicle is top secret and is a prototype in the LAPD and this is it's test run. Don't you feel special?!

If you ever saw the movie "Robocop" and remember that robot called "ED 209" the X-1 A resemples it a lot. The X-1 Alpha is a Walker/Hovercraft. It has the ability to jump high distances and go almost anywhere. But if you are trapped in a place where there is water you can hit the L1+R1 buttons on the controller to transform into the hovercraft. It can travel over water, rotate in place very quickly, and travles very fast across land and water. But the hover craft cannot climb up a raise in the area unless you can get up some speed or it might not get up the rise at all. You have to game modes to play in Crime War and Precinct Assault.

In Crime War you or a friend and fight co-op mode and try to survive fighting against 8 Crime Lords and their gangs. Each stage and gang gets more difficult as you play and when you beat that stage(s) you will get weapon power ups in the options screen. When you go to a new area in LA you get a neat little into into your case and what the case is about. i.e. tells you what you are going to fight against, info on local Crime Lord etc. As you progress in Crime War the game get very difficult and at times very fusterating.

Or you can fight in Precinct Assault against the Sky Captain or play against a friend. The object of this mode is to get one of your hover-tanks into the enemies base. Yeah you are thinkin' piece of cake, but trust me it's harder that you think. Now of to the gameplay and and graphics. This game handles just like it's "Strike" predassers. The camera is focused on the X-1 and a small area around it.

A very cool feater in this game is the targeting system. It is a laser site that lock on to an enemy automatically. Or if you want to you can change the target with the press of a button. Now the graphics in this game are killer. This game has some of the best graphics I've ever see. I mean you have to play it your self to see it. When something blows up in this game it REALLY blows up. EA went all out with the graphics in this game.

They are very realistic. Well as realistic as they can be to be in the year 2098. Even upclose when the camera zooms in they are great. Now the only downside to the game is it's replay value and it's ending. I mean you spend hour after hour tring to beat that last boss, and it's one hard mother f-cker too, and all you get inture is a little POS 10 second ending.

And once you play it the second time around it just isn't as much fun. Because it's very challenging game to beat. Oh and if you beat Nuclear Strike you probally saw the intro to the next "Strike" game. Well this is it. All in all its a pretty sweet game, very challenging, fun, and addictive once you've played it. You are determined to beat it. So on a score of 1 - 10 i give it a 8.5
