There is a huge flood and a man named John is standing on his roof
praying. He is an extremely devout Christian who has spent his whole life
loving God and praising Him. The water is up to John’s ankles. John is
asking God to help him in his prayers. A man comes along in a boat and tells John to get in. John refuses. He
says, “I love God with all my heart and He WILL save me.” The man in the
boat argues and asks him to get in. John refuses his help. The man in the
boat gives up and leaves. John keeps praying earnestly. The water is rising and is now up to
John’s waist. A helicopter comes along and lets down a ladder. Over the
loud speaker they tell John to climb on the ladder. He refuses and waves
them away. They keep asking him to grab the ladder and John keeps
refusing. The helicopter finally gives up and flies away to help others. John keeps praying and asking God to save him. The water continues
to rise and is now up to John’s chin. Another boat comes by and the man
offers to help John in. John refuses and says he is waiting for God to save
him. The man in the boat becomes impatient to help others and leaves. John continues praying and the water rises. John drowns. He finds
himself at the Gates of Heaven being greeted by God. God says, “Welcome my son. You have been a good and faithful
Christian man. I am so pleased to have you in heaven.” John replies, “Thank You Lord. I am so glad I made it. This is a
dream come true. May I ask You a question though?” God says, “Certainly my son. You may ask Me anything!”
John says, “Well Lord, how come You did not save me, even though I
prayed so earnestly for Your help?” God replies, “My son, what did you expect? I sent you two boats and
a helicopter!”
