A BALE OF HAY

The preacher of a small country church noticed there was a growing number of members not coming to church and mentioned his concern in his closing remarks one Sunday.

He was told a lot of the members were doubting his sermons or prayers were pleasing to God, because they had not witnessed ANY of his prayers being answered. He assured them God WAS listening and does answer his prayers, then added that he believed he could prove it to them the following Sunday and encouraged them to spread the word to the doubtful .

Before time for the next Sunday's Service, he put a bale of hay in the loft and employed a young boy to be in the loft during the Church Service with instructions as to what he was to do.

That Sunday the church was filled to capacity , and after quite a lengthy sermon the Preacher again assured the congregation God WAS listening, then raised his arms and shouted, "LORD SEND ME A BALE OF HAY," and to the amazement of the congregation down came a bale of hay!

ALL but a few of the doubters were convinced and the few that were not convinced demanded that the Preacher "DO THAT AGAIN!!"

So the Preacher raised his arms and shouted, "LORD SEND ME A BALE OF HAY!" (waited a second) raised his arms again and shouted, "LORD, PLEEEASE SEND ME A BALE OF HAY!"

A small voice answered, "Lord ain't Got No More Hay !!!"
