Connections for typical Speed 400 electric R/C plane:

Keep in mind, a fuse is optional, but recommended. The fuse could be soldered directly to the motor terminal, which would eliminate one connection point. There are several different types of connectors available - I prefer to use the Anderson Power Poles connectors (sold by JK Aerotech). Fuses can be purchased at any auto parts supply store - they are cheap, but serve to protect the ESC in case the motor draws too many amps (this could happen for numerous reasons).

With a Speed 400 motor, the ESC should be able to run at 20 amps continuously. The FMA Micro 20 is a good choice for a direct-drive Speed 400 speed control - it's inexpensive & very light & will handle the 20 amp limit. Because of it's tiny size, you can use the FMA Micro 20 in many indoor R/C planes as well. The FMA Micro 20 is not recommended for gear-driven Speed 400 applications.
