"Ahh…" she shouted falling. As she reached out to grab Nick's shoulder, he quickly scooped her up so that she didn't even hit the ground.
As he was holding her in his arms, one hand under her knee's and one under her back, he said, "You okay? You almost got to take a little dip in the water there!"
"Yeah. I'm fine," she said as he placed her feet on the ground. She had wrapped her arms around his neck, and now she stood there with them still around his neck. It took all the force she had in her to take her arms away. She turned away from him and started walking to the car.
The car ride home was spent in complete silence. They both felt extremely awkward sitting in the car together after their kiss. After about ten minutes Nick leaned over and turned on the radio.
"If she only knew What I knew but couldn't say If she could just see The part of me that I hid away If I could just hold her in my arms again And just say I love you…"
Nick's heart melted as he heard the words to the music. Why is it that every song I hear tonight is exactly what is going through my heart and my mind. Geez, I wish she felt the same way about me! Now she probably hates me and will never want to see me again. What's harder, not seeing her but loving her, or seeing her but loving her?
Megan's stomach felt as if there were hundreds of butterflies trying to break out. Why must the all the romantic songs play tonight! At the time that I don't want to hear them! She leaned over and switched the station to a hard rock station. Oh god, I hate this music! At least it's not romantic! I've wanted to kiss him for so long! What came over me tonight? I got the opportunity of a lifetime… Nick Carter kissed me… and I pushed him away!
Nick pulled around the corner and down the road towards Liz's house where Megan was staying. He braked slowly and pulled to the side of the road. Before he could even turn his head to say goodbye Megan had hopped out of the car and ran halfway across the lawn. "Bye," he whispered under his breath . Putting the car out of the parking break, he drove off. What the hell are you doing? Go after her, you moron!!! Nick thought and turned the car around in the empty street. Speeding about one block back to her house, he pulled over to the side of the road, making the breaks screech, and the airbag popped out. "Smooth stop Carter, good thing you had your seat belt on!" he yelled at himself. Nick pulled the keys out of the ignition and ran to the door. Knowing that Liz, Riley and Laney were asleep, and that if he woke them up they would probably kill him, he knocked gently on the door. I hope she didn't walk too far! Please hear me knocking! I can't wait until tomorrow to talk to you…
Knock… knock… knock…
COM's Meg! Answer the door…I guess she went strait upstairs. Damn! How can I get her attention? he thought, sitting down on the front step by the door.
After she ran across the front door and closed it, Megan turned around facing the stairway opposite the door, and leaned against the door. I'm such a moron! I really want to talk to him but I'm too scared to tell him everything. Maybe I should go out there and tell him.
Knock…knock…knock…She heard from the opposite side of the door. Startled she turned around and looked through the hole.
Ohh, Nick, it doesn't work if you come after me! I have to go after you!…Should I open the door?
Knock… knock… knock…she heard again. She jumped a little and turned away from the door. Leaning against it she slid to the floor and sat down.
What am I going to do? After thinking for a while, she finally got the guts to talk to him. Rising to her feet, she looked at her watch and realized that she had been thinking for a while. Damn, he's left by now. I'll have to call him in the morning and tell him to come over. She walked up stairs, changed, and went to bed.
