"Hello?"
"Hey, Howie. It’s Nick."
"Oh, hey, Nick. What’s up?"
"I was wondering if you and Lindsay wanna come sailing with me and Marie. How about it?"
"Let me check with Lindsay. Hey, Lindsay!" "What?!"
Nick could hear her in the background. Obviously, she was in another room from the constant yelling back and forth. He had to cover his ears. "Hey, D! Hold the phone down when you talk to her!"
"Oh, sorry! Sure, we’ll come. When do you wanna meet?"
He thought for a moment. "How about twenty, thirty minutes?"
"Okay, I’ll see you at the beach." Howie hung up the phone.
"I’m ready!" Lindsay came out of the bathroom wearing a two piece Nautica bathing suit and GAP shorts. She slipped on a baby-t, put some sun tan lotion and two towels in a bag, and entered the kitchen, where Howie was. "You ready?"
"I just got off the phone! What day is it?"
"Friday, why?"
"There’s something I was supposed to do…aw, man! I was supposed to call Foxy Brown, like, three days ago. Guess we’re not gonna be doing a song with her."
"Hey! You gotta get ready! Hurry up!"
"All right! Al right!" About five minutes later Howie came out of his bedroom with blue Tommy Hilfiger trunks as he put on a Tommy tee. "Okay, I’m ready." Him and Lindsay got in his Corvette and drove to the beach.
Nick and Marie were at the dock already in a boat. Nick wore a pair of red and blue Tommy Hilfiger trunks. Marie wore a pair of khaki colored Jncos and a navy blue tikini top.
Howie came up to Nick, noticing their similar wardrobe. "Man, we dress too much alike," he said.
Marie looked at what they were wearing. "What ever happened to Speedos?" she asked with disappointment in her voice.
"Yeah," said Lindsay. "What’s the fun of watching guys in trunks at the beach?" Her and Howie got in the boat and they sailed off, far from the beach, out of sight.
"Well," said Nick, "if you’re so unsatisfied, why don’t we just go skinny dipping?"
Marie’s eyes widened. "You wouldn’t!"
"We would! Ain’t that right, Howie?"
"Speak for yourself!" he said with a laugh. "Get Kevin. He’s done it before."
"I wonder how they are," said Nick. "I’m gonna call A.J. I haven’t talked to him at all since we got here." He picked up his cell phone and dialed in his number. "You think 9AM’s too early to call A.J? He’s a late sleeper, you know. He isn’t answering. Oh, wait."
"Hello?"
"Patricia?" Nick sounded confused. Everyone’s eyes widened as they listened in silence.
"Nick? Patricia sounded surprised.
"What are you doing at A.J.’s at this time of day?"
"Well, um…you see…"
"Oh, boy." Nick then realized what was going on. His face turned red. "Tell A.J. I called," he said quickly. "Bye."
"What did she say?" asked Howie.
"I think she was too embarrassed to answer me. I was too embarrassed to stay on the phone with her. You don’t really think they…"
Lindsay shook her head. "You just had to call, huh?"
"This never would’ve happened if we had gone skinny dipping," he replied.
Ring. Ring.
Nick answered his phone. "Hello?"
"Nick, it’s A.J. Let me explain-"
"I think I called at a bad time, so if we could just forget-"
"So you know?" asked A.J.
"I think you know that I know what I think you guys did."
"I think what you think we did is probably what we did."
"You’re not gonna…"
"Secret’s safe with me…"
"Aw, thank, man."
"…and Marie and Howie and Lindsay."
"What?!"
"We’re all here on my boat."
"That’s just great," he said sarcastically. "Talk about a romantic moment. What we did last night was kinda personal, so could you guys not tell Brian and Kevin?"
"Ummm…yeah. I gotta go. I see ya. Later."
"What he say?" asked Marie.
"’Yada, yada, yada…don’t tell Brian and Kevin.’"
Everyone looked at Lindsay. "I’ll be quiet…I’ll try…What am I saying? Keep an eye on me at all times, I might explode."
"Enough of this," said Marie. "Let’s do what we came to do: Have fun." She took off her Jnco’s and dove off the boat, into the water.
Nick dove in too. As he came back up from under the water, he saw his trunks floating ten feet away from him…
