Notes for SAMUEL LEARD: He is buried in Cedar Springs ARP (Associate Reformed Presbyterian) Cemetery in Abbeville, South Carolina. The name could have actually been Laird at this point, with the spelling changed at some point later. Samuel and his family came from Northern Ireland to Charleston, South Carolina, aboard the ship "The Earl of Hillsborough" in 1766. The ship's records show that the 229 passengers were Irish Protestant. Samuel received land in SC, and he was also a soldier in the Revolutionary War.
