I have just recently learned to crochet after having watched my grandmother as a young child and my wife for years. I decided that I needed something to do while watching TV at night that would keep me awake and so I started out with making a small circle which has become a hot dish pad in our kitchen. Next I decided to try making a seat cover for one of my tractors but the project rapidly grew and next thing we knew had become an afghan!

This is my first afghan, all done in single crochet. It is actually done in dark hunter green and beige but the colors didn't scan very well. This is a man's afghan with no holes for toes to poke through and it is very thick. I used Chunky yarn and a K hook. I find it much easier to work with the heavy yarn and a large hook since I have large hands. |

I really enjoyed making this ripple afghan. I used up all the odd balls of Chunky yarn that we had around. This afghan measures over 6 ft long and 4 ft wide! |

I started these seat covers for our kitchen chairs when I got my afghan finished. I thought it might be easier to work on something a bit smaller and easier to handle. This didn't scan very well either and is actually done in a peach center with hunter green around the outside. |

These are the placemats that I made to go with the chair pads for our kitchen. |

These are my attempt at a Christmas placemat. Once again the color is a bit off, they are actually a kelly green. |
