*My Destiny*

Where did I come up with this idea? I was sitting in my Music App class looking outside at all the squirrels chattering. Then all of a sudden, a demanding feeling came over me saying, You better write what's inside of your head. So, I did. There you have it.

Today is the day. It couldn’t happen any other day. Fate is working her magic, weaving her spell. The treetops glistened with the remaining droplets of morning dew, the birds chirped merrily as the sun fully arose, and everyone seemed to be wearing a smile. It was like these elements were reminding me of this event that is to take place this very day. As I look around and notice the sea of faces, I wonder, Who is it going to be? I walk, in no certain direction, knowing that wherever I ended up would be my destiny. As I heft my backpack onto my shoulder, I gaze up and notice the leaves changing into vibrant colors, almost right before my very eyes. The squirrels are chattering, fighting for an acorn. All of this I take in, confirming my belief of signs. I am going to be very pleased with the results of Fate’s magic, I can tell by these signs, gifts from Fate herself.

As I continue along with my journey, I see many smiles directed my way. It was almost as if they all knew my destiny before I did. The positive vibes I was getting left me breathless. Is this my imagination? Am I taking this the wrong way? What if the signs are right? What if they’re wrong? I cross the bridge, hoping that my answers lie ahead. Looking down into the swirling water, I notice fish swimming happily, dodging the fallen red leaves. Then I notice a lone fish rise to the surface, motionless, pleading for my help. I look around. Biting my lip, I kneel and reach down into the water to pick the creature up. As soon as I touch it, it leaps to life, throws me a grateful smile and swims away. I utter a sign of relief and continue on my way. As I walk, I feel a formidable presence. I glance around, not seeing anyone close to me. Then I know that my destiny is about to be fulfilled soon. I smile, and continue walking with a lighter step. All of a sudden, I see people; tons of people. I bump into a guy and peer up at him. He rolls his eyes and walks away. Nope, not that one. Almost directly thereafter, I ram against another guy. He smiles and leers suggestively. Nope, not that one. I sigh and continue with my journey. Another guy walks up to me and says hello. I stop and ponder. I smile at him and say hello back. He brushes a lock of long brown hair out of his eyes and grins sweetly. This could be the one! Then I feel a shudder in the back of my thoughts. Fate has intervened again. Nope, not this one. I smile at him regretfully and continue on my way.

A guy with short, rich black hair stops me, and smiles bashfully. I am overcome by his sweetness and I smile back. He asks how I am doing and if I want to go to a picnic, held in my honor. I say thank you, but before I can say yes, I hear a nagging voice inside my head. Oh, not this one either. I expel a frustrated sigh, for all of these guys were acceptable. But Fate thought differently. So, I walk on. I notice a guy with long blonde hair, some of which was hanging into his shimmering blue eyes. His eyes are so bright that I notice them from where I am standing. I stand there, hoping he approaches me. He looks at me and walks over. He comments on my hair and my eyes, the sheer beauty of them, as he so eloquently put it. His compliments melt me. I smile sweetly and laugh at his corny jokes. His name is Brian. He comments on a band we both like and invites me to a concert. I find myself overcome with giddiness. But no, I hear a voice in the back of my head; the same voice that has been plaguing me all day long. And it said, No, not this one! I know not to argue with that voice, but it angered me because I like this Brian. Before I could damn the voice that angered me, it gently reminded me that things might be even better if I wait. So, I smile at Brian, shed a few tears, and leave him standing there alone. Then I realize my destiny is right ahead. I walk through the lush grass, my stomach heavy with fluttering butterflies, and then I stop. I look at the stairs looming before me and notice that my breathing has become very rapid. I am certain that this is the end of my destination and my destiny lies in the building ahead.

I take a deep breath and start my trek up the steps. One by one I ascend, growing more anxious and nervous as each second passes. I enter the building and look around, left and then right. I do not notice anyone so I walk down the corridor. I hear laughter to my right, so I enter the room. A tall blond headed guy stood in the middle of the room and an older man was sitting behind a desk. The older man looks at me, excuses himself and exits the room. I recognize the younger man, but at the same time, I realize that I had never seen him before. I have the oddest feeling that I know him, I know everything about him, and at the same time, he knows everything about me. We stand there, eyes locked, my brown and his blue, and then he smiles. A wide, beautiful smile that made my knees go weak. His smile was charming, sweet, coy, honest, bashful, sexy and charismatic. His smile reached his eyes and suddenly, he became his smile. I fell in love. Without words, we knew we were meant for each other. I was trembling as I made my way to him from my position at the door. We stood together, eyes searching, and we finally touch each other. Just a tentative touch to his shoulder makes him quake, as his smile made me do the same. Words would burst the profound emotions coursing between us, so we dare not speak. Not knowing what else to do, we move closer to one another and come together in an embrace. We had finally found each other. It took 20 years, but we were together now. I realize that I did the right thing when I refrained from arguing with Fate. He was much better than the other guys.
