CHAPTER 6

"Why did you wave at that girl, Frack?" Brian asked.

"She's the girl from the record store and from the front row. I wonder what room she's in," he mused. "Do you think they'll tell me downstairs?"

"I dunno, man. Maybe," Brian was quickly losing interest. He was thinking about that other girl beside Nick's object of affection. Since he was finished with LeighAnne for good, he could go after other chicks. That thought pleased him immensely.

DING!

The guys stepped out of the elevator and walked down the hall th their rooms. They decided to change clothes once again and go to a club down the street. At the last minute, Nick bailed because he claimed to be tired. After the rest of the guys left, he jumped up from his sitting position and made his way to the lobby.

"Excuse me, ma'am," he said charmingly to the clerk."I was wondering if you could tell me someone's room number.

"Normally we do not give out that kind of information, but since you're so adorable, I think I'll let the policy slide," the woman flirted. "Okay, and the name is?"

"It's-" Nick paused. "Well, I don't actually know her name. She was in the lobby earlier."

"Well, I just started my shift about five minutes ago, so I have no idea who you're talking about."

"Oh, well. Okay then," Nick looked dejected. "Thanks for your help."

"It was my pleasure."

Nick returned to his room and smacked himself on the head. He couldn't believe he didn't think of getting her name. After berating himself for a while, he decided to call it a night.

*At the Same Time, in Tracy and Nichole's Room*

"Okay, so Nick was in the record store the very same time I was? I can't believe you didn't tell me sooner!" Tracy fumed.

"Hey! I just found out myself! It was his hat that made me realize it."

"Sure, whatever. I'm gonna go to that pub I saw down the road. Wanna join me?"

"No, I'll stay here and dream of Nick," Nichole sighed.

"Okay, I'll be back later."

"Sure, have fun!"

Tracy left the room and Nic was all alone. She couldn't believe that she was in England...that she went to a BSB concert...and that she flirted with Nick Carter! Yes, things were going very well. She glanced at the clock and saw that it was close to midnight. Too energized to sleep, not to mention all the time zone confusion, she decided to take a stroll around the hotel. Double checking to see if she had her key, she quietly opened the door and slipped out of her room. Of course, she kept her eyes peeled for a glimpse of Nick. She walked up to the elevator, noticed that the light was on the second floor and decided to take the stairs down to the lobby. Little did she know, Nick was in the elevator ascending to her floor.

Nichole finally reached the lobby and approached the clerk. The woman looked her up and down, sneering the whole time.

"Yes? Can I help you?" She looked over the rims of her glasses with superiority.

"Um, yes. I was wondering if you could tell me what room Nick Carter is in," Nic asked hesitantly.

"No, I'm sorry. We don't give out that information here at the Hyatt. I guess you're out of luck." she replied snottily in her crisp English accent.

"Okay, then. Thanks for your help," Nic smiled sweetly. She had decided long ago that being nice to rude people would get her farther with them.

The woman grimaced. " I apologize for my rudeness. I just started my shift and everything is backed up. Now, what was that name again?"

"Nick Carter," Nic said with an anxious smile.

"Hm...I don't see a listing under that name. Could he possibly be under another one?"

"The Backstreet Boys?" Nic raised an eyebrow.

"The Backstreet Boys?" it was the woman's turn to raise an eyebrow.

"Yes. Tall, blond hair, blue eyes and a heavenly voice."

"Oh yes. I know who he is. Did you happen to be in the lobby earlier tonight?"

"Yes, ma'am... I was," she replied with a hint of apprehension in her voice.

"Interesting. And your name is?"

"Um, Nichole McGregor. Am I in trouble or something?"

"Oh, no dear," the lady chuckled. "Here, please call me Lucy. I have a feeling we're going to know one another quite well. Are you by chance Scottish?"

"I'm assuming I have Scottish ancestors since my name bears the Scottish suffix," she smiled. " I was born and raised in America."

"Ah, that's nice dear," Lucy smiled widely. "Now, since the BSB have informed us to keep their room numbers private, I can't give out that information. But don't despair, dear. You will meet your Nick...and he will finally meet you."

Nichole was taken aback by the woman's prophecy. "Okay. Thank you, Lucy. It was nice meeting you."

"Oh, it was very nice meeting you, dear. Tell me, when are you going back to America?"

"We're leaving this Saturday."

Lucy sat behind the counter with her hands steepled under her chin. She seemed to be deep in contemplation. Finally, she raised her head and smiled. "Here," she reached into a drawer. "This is a pass to the Sea Life Centre a few miles from here. It's good for a free admission and a free tour on Tuesday. You need to be there at noon so you won't be late for the tour."

"Oh, why thank you! Do you have another one? I hate going to places by myself...especially in a foreign land," she grinned sheepishly as she took the pass from Lucy's outstretched hand.

Lucy's other hidden hand clutched the second pass. "No, I'm sorry," she lied smoothly. " I only have that one."

"Okay, well thank you for your generosity," Nic warmly smiled. "I best be going so I can get up tomorrow morning to see Windsor Castle and London."

"Oh, London is magnificent. Are you going to the BSB concert tomorrow night?" Nic nodded. "You'd better save some energy then!"

"Oh, I'll always have an endless supply of energy for the BSB!"

"I hope you have fun tomorrow...and I hope you enjoy the Sea Life Centre Tuesday as well," the telephone rang, interrupting them. "I'd better answer that. Remember all that I've said. I'm sure I'll see you again soon. Take care, dear!"

"Alright, you too!" Nic mouthed. "Bye!"

She made her way back to her room, reviewing what had just happened. Lucy just seemed to change immediately when she mentioned Nick Carter. Weird. At least she made a new friend and got a free pass to the aquarium for her efforts! I wonder what Tracy is doing right now, she mused as she opened the balcony door and stepped out.

*At The Same Time*

Tracy threw her head back and swung her hair as she danced to the vibrant beat. She had decided to go to the club next door, rather than go to the pub. Sure, she was all alone, but she was having a blast dancing by herself. She glanced around, blinded by the pulsating lights and spotted a guy that looked exactly like Howie Dorough. Pausing for a moment, she wondered if it was him. She decided that he was just a lookalike and continued dancing.

She danced for about 30 more minutes until she felt a hand touch her shoulder. Spinning around, she came face to face with Brian Littrell. Sweat was dripping into her eyes, but she definitely knew that it was indeed Brian standing in front of her.

"Can I dance with you? I'm getting kinda lonely dancing by myself over there," Brian drawled out as he grinned lopsidedly.

"Um, yeah sure! Go right ahead! I'll be happy to have you dancing with me! Er, I'll be happy to dance with you!" Tracy breathed.

"Alrighty, let's get down cause you're the one for me! Tonight anyway," Brian mumbled. They grooved to the music for well over an hour before they stopped to get something to drink.

"I guess I need to introduce myself," said Brian, with his award-winning smile plastered on his face. "I'm Brian Littrell...and you are?"

"Tracy," she replied. "I just want to say, before we get to talking and everything, that you performed superbly tonight. Much better than the rest of them."

"Why, thank you...I like to think that I'm better than them. Nah, I'm just playin'," he grinned sheepishly. "So, why are you here? You're obviously not from these parts."

"I'm on vacation with my friend. She invited me to come along so she could see one of her other friends," Tracy smiled.

"Ah...I've seen ya'll around. Weren't you in the Hyatt lobby earlier tonight?"

"Yeah, Nic wanted to see ya'll...and of course, I did too!"

"Nick? Her name is Nick?"

"Nic. N-i-c," she spelled out. "Short for Nichole."

"Oh, I get it now," he looked amused. "Nic and Nick. Funny."

"What?" Tracy asked sharply.

"Oh, nothing...just thinking," he sipped his drink.

"Um, okay," Tracy mumbled. "So, how about some more dancing?"

"Sure, I'm up for that."

They danced for hours and hours, finally stopping when AJ pratically crawled to Brian and complained about being exhausted and in the process, completely ignored Tracy. But that was okay with her...she felt all warm and mushy inside...and not from sweating profusely. They walked to the exit of the club...and Brian felt a sudden urge to kiss Tracy.

"Um, Tracy, can I ask you something?" he stalled her at the door.

"Sure," she smiled.

"Can I kiss you?"

Tracy inhaled deeply," That would be alright."

He leaned over and filled the gap between them...lightly touching his lips to hers. She sighed contently. Abruptly he pulled back with a confused look on his face.

"Hey, I don't wanna rush into things, okay? I like you too much," he said with wide eyes.

"Alright. I like you too," she added, smiling widely.

"Good," he grinned. He reached over, grabbed her hand and walked back to the hotel swinging their clasped hands playfully.
