The following are accounts transcribed from an undated (likely to be
in the
late 1860s or early 1870s) daybook kept by my g-g-grandfather William
Anderson MUSGROVE. He lived in northern Fayette Co., about five
miles
south of Winfield, AL and had a general store at the back of his house
and
a post office (Mont Calm) in a room built onto the front porch.
Sometimes
this area was enumerated in Marion Co. Maybe you'll find a relative
amongst these customers.
Anyone know what a ball of War candy was? 25 cents was a little
pricey in
those days for candy.
