Captain Sivick

Personal Profile: Sivick

ECF Directives Acceptance Pledge

I, Sivick hereby accept and promise to abide by as well as uphold all the Directives of the Exploratory Crews of the Federation.

Born on Vulcan, raised on Earth during his father's tenure as Professor at Harvard University, Sivick has an insatiable curiosity. Known as Dr. Sivick to his peers, Sivick holds three Ph.D.'s in the fields of nuclear physics, solar dynamics, and space-time dynamics. He has studied at the Vulcan Science Academy, Starfleet Academy, Harvard University and Yale University. He has also spent time as a researcher at the Daystrom Institute.

Sivick entered Starfleet academy because of the Dominion war. He felt that defending the Federation was the only logical thing to do. This is how Sivick came by his martial arts and tactical training. He felt that his fields of scientific expertise were not useful in a time of war. However, by the time Sivick graduated, the war was over. Sivick decided that some fieldwork on a science ship would do him some good. Starfleet had other ideas. He was posted on the Talon as chief science officer, a defiant class ship with almost no scientific resources at all. Sivick helped out to the best of his abilities, but when a friend of his, Jacen Hillard, received command of a Nebula class starship, Sivick transferred over as chief science officer. Sivick served well as the ship's CSCI, but when the Lexington's first officer left, Captain Hillard chose Sivick to be his new first officer. Sivick gained valuable command experience serving as first officer and found that command had its own rewards. When Captain Hillard retired, he was ready to assume temporary command of the Lexington, a position that could become permanent. Sivick does not see command of a ship as a departure from his career in science, but an opportunity to be on the frontier.

Sivick may initially appear haughty, as most Vulcans do, but is really quite tolerant of other races; always in the back of his mind is the Vulcan IDIC, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. Although he has had gone through the most advanced Vulcan telepathic training, he rarely uses them. He has mental blocks up most of the time, though he is permanently telepathically linked to his wife, Lady Lolandra Karu.
