Commander Michael Daniels McHaley

Personal Profile: Michael D. McHaley

ECF Directives Acceptance Pledge

I, Michael Daniels McHaley hereby accept and promise to abide by as well as uphold all the Directives of the Exploratory Crews of the Federation.

Michael was born on Earth and grew up in Rhode Island. During his formative years, Michael could often be found in the company of his older brother. Together, the boys would practice the various fighting and wrestling techniques taught them by their father, explore the Rhode Island coastline and on occasion, accompany their father on routine patrols.

Athletic by nature, Michael participated in various scholastic sports including track and the relay team. He also devoted some of his spare time coaching younger students in sporting activities. His parents had instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility and this trait manifested in his desire to help those around him.

By now, Michael's brother, Julian had been accepted into the combat training staff on Luna 1 and Michael, at 17, had applied to Starfleet Academy. Julian had invited his younger brother to a freestyle match the weekend before he was to leave for San Francisco. Michael readily accepted. It was during an exhibition bout that Michael received an injury that nearly destroyed his right eye. The medical staff on Luna 1 was able to repair the ocular damage but, as a result, Michael still carries a scar of the incident.

At the Academy, Michael's courses of study were geared to a career in security. He was an excellent student and his instructors noticed that he had a genuine desire to help others. He graduated with honors and was assigned to the USS Nebuchadnezzer in Starfleet's exploratory division.
