On Stardate 55324.9, Lieutenant Commander Emily Erickson gave her life for her ship and crew during a Borg attack on Starbase Seven. Emily had temporary command of USS Odyssey while a remaining Borg cube (of three) threatened the Starbase. In a heroic effort, Lt. Commander Erickson positioned her badly damaged Defiant class vessel on a head-on collision course with the cube. In a timely manner, Emily set the warp core on overload buildup which exploded on impact with the cube, causing the cubes shields to fail and ultimately, costing her her life. Seeing this while on USS Intrepid, Fleet Captain Sybok ordered the remaining vessels to open fire with everything they had on the damaged cube. Seconds later, as the flash of debris from the cube began to diminish, Sybok lowered his head for a silent moment, for the loss of one of his finest Officers... Lieutenant Commander Emily Erickson.
This extraordinary chief science officer will forever hold a dear place in the hearts and minds of her shipmates and the ECF.
Although her candle shone but briefly in this place, it now shines eternally in the presence of the Lord.
